That's askin'' what difference does it make if I'm alive or dead?
There’s no difference, because life and death are the same immortal phenomena, they just differ in appearance that’s all.

Re: Free Will
As I said, and as you chose not to quote, we are important to ourselves, if to no one else.
Is that your way of avoiding answering the question, henry? I'll ask it again, just in case you wanted to answer it, but got confused and momentarily thought you didn't. What difference does God or the soul make to the value of our existence? I neither believe in gods nor souls, but I suspect I value myself as much as you value yourself.henry quirk wrote: ↑Wed Aug 07, 2024 10:13 pmThat's askin'' what difference does it make if I'm alive or dead?Harbal wrote:what difference does God or the soul make, either way?
Re: Free Will
No one says you have to, just say you disagree or ask for clarification. Don’t project or assume you know who I am. I’m not a hippy, or some new ager, nor am I a feeb. I’m just a regular person like you.Ain't listenin' to none of your hippy hokum, though, none of this life and death are the same immortal phenomena malarky.
You don’t need to resort to angry reactive rudeness either, that’s just a show of unnecessary dismissive impatience and intolerance.
Huh?Person, just meat: what is man?

Why Huh!? Don't you know what a person is?Fairy wrote: ↑Wed Aug 07, 2024 10:52 pm

Well, if I am an idiot, you're still a couple of levels below from where I, by your measure, supposedly am. There you shall remain, of that there is no question, which your response, once again, unquestionably proves.henry quirk wrote: ↑Wed Aug 07, 2024 6:27 pmYou're an idiot. Your answer is idiotic. Your assessments are idiocy-distilled. In the dictionary you'll find...
idiot
noun
id·i·ot ˈi-dē-ət
plural idiots
Synonyms of idiot
1
: a foolish or stupid person
"… Idiot that I am to wear my heart on my sleeve! …"
—George Bernard Shaw
2
dated, now offensive : a person affected with extreme intellectual disability
idiot adjective
3
see dubious
How does affirming a limit to human exceptionalism in terms of an afterlife have any to do with wearing one's heart on one's sleeve? In what way does the quote by GBS in any way apply, the context of which is completely different. Care to enlighten?
I think what you're really upset about is my mention of your tail-wagging habits whenever IC pats you on the head.
I have a question: Can theism lead prematurely to Alzheimer's?

Huh?Person, just meat: what is man?
But not sure about the jumbled statement ….”person, just meat: what is man ?” Is supposed to be asking.
So I’m kind of left wondering and huhin at that, tbh.

Well, if Determinism is true, there’s no “you” it can “seem” to, and no way you can “have an opinion.” Opinions, like Harbals, are nothing other than the inevitable product of impersonal forces of physics. They could never be other than whatever they turn out to be.

A human being regarded as an individual, this concept is known.

Re: Free Will
Then human cannot be immortal! So the question is what is in human that is immortal?
Re: Free Will
Actually, I'm fine with the possibility of there being no me.
