Because I've got stuff to complain about. Is there a reason not to complain that I don't know about?
Apparently, "not being useful" isn't one of them. You don't even know what "useful" would look like, or to what it would directed, by your own account.
Because there's nothing useful for me to do doesn't mean I can't complain that there's nothing useful for me to do. God you are irritating.

I'm just pointing out that if you want to complain about being "useless," it can only be if you know what you were supposed to be "used" for. You seem to have some idea in the back of your mind, something that's there enough to frustrate you, but nothing you've really told yourself about. All I'm saying is, bring it to the front of your mind, Gary, and you may figure out what's bothering you. Leave it unformed, and you probably won't. You'll just be irritated.

I'm irritated that people around the world are killing each other. Arguing is fine if they want to argue but going out and deliberately killing people and spreading destruction is not fine.

I wasn't talking about that, Gary...nor were you, until now.
You said you felt "useless." I simply asked you what you wanted to be, or thought a person should be "used" for. You said you didn't think people were to be "used for" anything, or if they were, you didn't know what it would be. So I quite reasonably asked where you were getting your impression of being "useless."
I'm not wrong. Check your own OP, or the headline above.

You asked me above to figure out what's bothering me. Other than you, that's something that is bothering me.

Why do u guys keep going
round and round like this for years on end.
Gary logs in and posts about how miserable he is (and has good reason), then IC comes in like a christian summer camp counselor tryna make em feel better.
Here's the thing: neither of u have ill intentions, but you reached an impasse already, and still u go back and forth.
Fact is, gary, IC can't prove to u that the christian god exists, but he can give u (relatively) good reason to act and think as if he does.
Neither can u get angry at IC when he talks as if he is certain god exists and takes the existence of god for granted when premising his arguments. U gotta talk that way really or u start talking like Biggs and say 'unless, of course, I'm wrong' every post.
Also, in IC's brain piece, there is a state of certainty, a homogeneity and valence of ideas and cognitions that constitute a proof for god's existence. In fact, he can't not believe in god's existence. He'd be lying to himself if he did.
So listen man u can't demand proof that this god exists, and u have to just place the pascal bet if you wanna be a christian but have trouble believing.
Really theology has no place in philosophy or science. It's fideistic by nature. But at the same time, the thinkers and intellectuals who try to engage theology with philosophy and science have no malicious intent. They truly do believe they have proof and they should feel obligated to share it (as wonky as it is).
Good day, gentlemen.

No, I asked you to figure out what was bothering you
that made you feel useless. I wasn't suddenly completely jumping sideways and leaving the subject of the whole thread. That would be silly.
And I still think you'll find that helpful and worth doing: rather than simply saying, "I feel useless," push yourself to decide what "use" you feel you are missing. You might learn why you're actually unhappy.

...a little bit of Amor fati mixed in with one's oatmeal would help to accept the Calvinistic verdict that god foreordained you should be miserable when you arrive and possibly thereafter! But to finalize the clause, if he really had it in for you even prior to being born, the
thereafter of your thereafter being much longer than your former thereafter in which you cried,
woe is me, never forget, god loves you even before you were assembled!

Barkin' up the wrong tree, Maynard...God has nuthin' to do with it....nuthin' is foreordained...and: not bein' happy is not synonymous with bein' miserable.

Who's Maynard? Is that some comic book character you base your English on?
But you're right!
God has nuthin' to do with it
nuthin' is foreordained
and: not bein' happy is not synonymous with bein' miserable.
Wow! Three hits out of three; that's exceptional for someone who usually has to work his way up to zero!
