And if he got help, then that's a connection to PF.
You're mental if you think this is a connection between the forums of any sort.
Look who's talking about mental since she made a connection between surely and Shirley.

Well you're either old enough to have seen the film or you aren't.

Either way all this waffle about this other forum and conspiracy is just that, interweeb waffle.

Shirley Temple films run frequently on TV so you goofed here about age. It seems anyone who disagrees with you, you like to term an interweeb so that shows how good your arguing skills are (not).

I suggest you stick with Bob who's more your speed.

The movie with Leslie Nielsen in it. I've seen it.

I know you brought it up since there was a play on surely when Leslie said "Don't call me Shirley."

Now here's a valid point that Bob has made about you. In one of your early posts, I saw the name Kim indicating that's your real first name. Bob keeps harping on it for whatever reason. Are you opposed to being called Kim now?

Airplane was the first real 'spoof' film based on other Airplane and Boat crash movies of the time. It also used a mix of Monty Python humor but in a way that the actors appeared way out of character making it even more hilarious. Leslie Neilsen is actually from my birth home town, Regina, Saskatchewan. And his brother was a politician. Prior to taking the part in Airplane, he was only a serious actor and why many didn't expect him and other actors in that show to be so out of character. I still love that movie. It was even the model for spoof films like the "Scary Movie" franchise.

And I found it surpassed the Monty Python style. But I'm a bit prejudiced because I couldn't actually follow the accents in Monty Python originally. But if you want to see the model source for spoof movies, Airplane started it all! It's one of those that you have to watch over and over again to discover the background details you miss. It makes it more entertaining because of that alone.

Scientists are noted for that (yet I do have a sense of humor as noted in my personal life. Also the British have been characterized as being stuffy which doesn't equate to a sense of humor). Do you consider yourself to be a comedienne?

Stuffy? The British (English) are famous for their humour--especially in adversity. Are you a scientist? I've never heard that they lack a sense of humour.

Am I a scientist? Not by degree. But in other ways, yes.

The only two notable British comedians I'm aware of are Bob Hope (Robert Hope) and Benny Hill. I'm aware of many American comedians, many of whom are Jewish.

Over the years I've heard the British characterized as being stuffy. Here is an article (and there are more) that goes into it:

http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/M ... Stuffiness

This article says this notion started with the Americans. The main question is why would the British be characterized that way?

Whatever. I don't click on your virus-infested links any more.
The difference is evident when the yanks try to do their own version of successful British comedies. It doesn't work. 'The Office' just isn't the same with plastic, fake, air-brushed Americans. Imagine an American version of 'Father Ted' (Irish). It wouldn't work at all.

Man, talk about not being a fan of comedy.

That would be like saying, "The only two notable musicians from the UK that I'm aware of are David Byrne and Acker Bilk. I'm aware of many American musicians, many of whom are African American."

Bob Hope's name wasn't Robert, by the way. His given name at birth was Leslie Townes Hope, although sometimes legal documents showed it as Lester Townes Hope.
