Your interpretation of that being bizarre says a lot about you.

A smile on your face and not a shred of human decency. How you sleep at night is a wonder.
No, that is not quite right, Gary. We have been edging toward war (I mean on a larger, world-level) for possibly as long as a decade. The Mid East stuff has been going on for 30 years. The US is in a position -- I refer to geo-political necessities -- that it 'must' control Venezuelan oil production. And the province of Alberta is also looking appetizing. There are pretty big adjustments going on in the world and a good deal of fear and apprehension.

I suggest budgeting the time to consider the implication of the conversation between these 4 men, 3 who are 'experts' in their field. It helped me to understand the *larger picture* better.

You guys are half-crazy but very lovable and Alexis Jacobi loves you and is amused by your TDS which spirals upward and upward like a deranged bird. I will still continue to recommend that you try to see the larger picture and separate your own personal feelings...from the dynamics of huge power-political machinations and power-plays.

I still am very much of the opinion that Trump's Iran attack was a miserable and destructive act. It is being described as possibly the worst policy blunder in US history. But, I continue to think, there may be a miraculous (it would have to be) turning of the tide. I put that at 15%.

Be well my bickering, possessed children. And may your endless complaining bring you nowhere, and may being nowhere satisfy!
Interesting video. All three of them have their heads in the clouds and are completely overlooking the obvious. The world doesn't need to keep doing what it's been doing for the past 2000 years. It needs to change--radically. It needs to learn to coexist without destroying itself because we've gotten to a point where we are very likely to lose the struggle for survival as a species. These commentators you watch are mindless talking heads that have no coherent cause or understanding unifying their various observations. They're essentially like sports commentators. The world is missing a unifying ethic, something that particular religions have provided for particular relatively isolated groups in the past but which, as an ensemble of pre-scientific speculative endeavors, have all failed to unify. The world is getting more tightly tied. People aren't separated by mountains and oceans as they once were. And we're all moving toward disaster, whether climate- or strife-related.

Alexis, Heidegger, and the continental philosophers are/were SOPHISTS. They had no unifying ethic to guide their minds; there is and was no useful purpose or end in their spurious banter. They were ultimately out to decorate their biographies. That's about it. You are NOT a philosopher of any stature, Alexis. Please realize this. You are a sophist who knows nothing that can be coherently organized into a useful thought other than to prance around posing as an "intellectual".

Gary, the problem with your extreme idealism as to what humanity needs to do, et cetera, is that it will not happen. It is not happening. I think it is as simple as that. And, I will add, your philosophical perspective will need to accept this so that you can function, realistically, in the world. It does not matter what position Heidegger, Yosemite Sam or the Baal Shem Tov have, what Alexis Jacobi preaches is simply to see and understand things as they are. I assure you that the world is going along on it’s trajectory, which neither you nor I created. In a very real sense, allow me to say, the world’s fate may very well be ‘in the hands of God’ in the ur-ultimate sense. Peculiarly, that is a statement of faith.

It’s odd — you fight against me as if I am that big terrible world that has you completely in its grip. Have you ever thought of separating yourself from the horror of such a monster as that? What would result were you to say, to internalize, “I accept that things are as they are. I did not create any of this and I am not responsible for it”.

This sentence is garbled and I hesitate to guess what you meant by it. So I’ll just point out that the narrative of “open borders” was a lie concocted and exploited by Biden’s rightwing opponents. It was never the Biden administration’s message.

Some of my very best friends have been married men. That helps to avoid the sexual tension that happens between singles -- and I'm not the kind of person to participate in some kind of cheating behavior. I truly love male energy when it's not craving to glorify itself. Good men are beautiful! It's really kind of tragic that so many men are completely missing what their wise role could be in this world. They would rather serve themselves and other stupid men in the shallows.

First, the exploitation of events and revelations of what ‘the other side’ is doing, or proposing, is very common today as everyone is or should be aware. Some ex-border patrol official went on Tucker Carlson to claim there were 100 million illegals (or new arrivals). Obviously impossible. But the narrative evokes outrage and induces listeners to become less tolerant.

The Left-Democrat-Progressives do the same thing, but their activism is far more successful and the resistance actions taken by them have been far more serious and consequential. During the Biden administration there were serious riots, immense property destruction, burning down city centers, rampages of indignant activists pulling down statues of cultural figures, and not to mention so much attitude-activism springing from DEI hysteria.

If the “Right” had rampaged in any similar way there would be no end to the replay of it, the moral outrage, the hand-wringing and other manifestations.

That ‘by the way’.

Unquestionably there was a welcomed and encouraged flood of immigrants during that period. But I do not have a source (except what can be Googled) with precise numbers.

But the real issue is that pertaining to deliberate modification of the demographics of the US. That process has roots and a trajectory. Curiously, Biden himself expressed his own views on the topic when VP under Obama.

You are doing it again, Jacko! There’s three elements embedded in that compound claim:
  • There was a flood of immigrants
  • It was welcomed (by the Biden administration)
  • It was encouraged (by the Biden administration)
You concede you have no precise numbers (what’s the threshold for a “flood” by the way?) but by that concession, you deflect from the main issue, which is that you have no grounds for claiming it was welcomed and encouraged by Biden’s administration. You are just repeating a right wing lie that you’ve apparently been taken in by.

You are being non-productively silly, Mr Mick. I lived through the events and paid attention.

The game you are playing is, actually, common. It is to assert that what actually happened, what was seen by one’s own eyes, what occurred around one (mass influx), and what one is actually living, is not real.

These are bizarre perception-manipulation games. And if that is a field you choose to work in, have at it.
you have no grounds for claiming it was welcomed and encouraged by Biden’s administration
It was certainly encouraged, but as a phenomenon it was also connected to, or powered by, a rather massive choice to disregard established laws and certainly mores, which resulted in presenting to the world a view that the border was open. And millions received the message and responded. Who specifically did this? Many interests were involved, and an administration.

Do you see, Mick? what nuanced and reasonable thinking brings to us? A realistic and fair picture. Neutral as Brother Fanman uses the term.

Was this ultimately to the advantage of either the Democrats or the less defined population adamantly opposed to Rightwing nationalism that disfavors demographic transformation? I think in the long run yes, but in the shirt run the reality of their complicity, as well as the appearance of it, has worked against them.

I think it is more accurate to say that you lived through reports of the events and paid attention to right wing analysis of them.

It was certainly encouraged [by Biden’s administration]

If you mean that the Biden administration’s messaging encouraged it then you need to cite some examples of encouraging words issued by Biden or his administration.

If on the other hand you mean it was encouraged by circumstances, you need to demonstrate that all those circumstances were under direct and complete control of the administration, and you need to argue convincingly that there was no other policy justification for creating those circumstances.

I believe you cannot succeed on either front, because there were no such encouraging words or encouraging policies coming from the Biden administration. And I’m going to go out on a bit of a limb here, and predict that you won’t even make the attempt.

Well you are certainly right that I gained knowledge of these events by way or reporting, and it is also true that Left and Progressive media outfits, in that period, did little reporting of a critical sort on the phenomenon under examination. Everything became polarized and (nearly) everyone worked “party lines” and this continues. But the issue of massive influx of foreigners responding to the reported fact of a porous border is real, not false, not invented. And the Biden administration was complicit in this along with the Party and those in general affiliation.

So in fact I do not need to “do anything” to prove to you that this happened. Nor that with a new presidency it was highly curtailed.

The question of how many millions is still undetermined. Likely because of the ideological battles between those with political motivations to both over- and under-estimate the real total (which may be impossible to know).

First of all, you sad little man, how about you mind your own business,...you...you...American expat, and now Colombian busy-body...

...(indeed, wouldn't your time be better spent frying up some empanadas or some buñuelos and pandebonos?)

And secondly, as per usual, the Democrat president (in this case Biden) not only had to deal with the results of Republicans - once again - destroying the country*, in this case, Trump's massively inept and disastrous mishandling of the covid pandemic,...

...not to mention him (Biden) also having to deal with the (still ongoing) aftermath of Trump's attempt to overthrow the 2020 election and the American Constitution.

*(Do you need to be reminded of the mess that the Democrat president Obama inherited from Bush the Republican president?)

And lastly, considering how many people have been forced to flee the innumerable countries that the U.S. has disrupted or destroyed over the last six or seven decades,...

...means that America has absolutely no moral grounds or authority to complain about anyone* seeking asylum or refuge inside of America's borders.

*(No matter how many of them there are or where they come from.)
