My my, it is possible to be a more reprehensible religious bigot than IC. Well done that man, quite an achievement.

Of course, the wars in the ME the US waged have made the region so much better,

There is something to this.
The United States neutralized Saddam Hussein, who attacked Kuwait, oppressed the Kurds with chemical weapons, and fired missiles at Israel.
Then the US neutralized the sadistic ISIS thugs.
Now, thanks to Allah, Trump is neutralizing the IRGC terrorists, who initially declared their main goal to be "death to America."
It's clear that people like Mamdani and his American voters don't like this.
Christian Tucker Carlson and his ilk don't like it either.
The already warped brains of anti-Semites do not allow them to cope with their demagoguery.

But there is something more global in this world, on the one hand, Christian idolatry, the insolvency of the Trinity, and it is indicated in the Quran, so Muslims are aware of it.
On the other hand, the demagogy of Muslims does not allow them to understand the Tanakh, and they slide towards ISIS, the IRGC, Hamas.

And anti-religious people end up with parades of sexual perversions.

C'est la vie
Maybe try using diplomacy instead of threats and violence, and after a while, perhaps the Iranian leaders won't be able to convince their people that the people should support them to save them from the "Great Satans". Instigating war against the Iranians only makes things worse. Why have some people failed to come to the conclusion that violence does not solve problems of violence?

Okay, let's beat our swords into ploughshares and disband the police in your city.

Maybe giving the "police" tasers instead of bombs and assault rifles would be less destructive.

ISIS sadists chop off the heads of their victims with swords, perhaps, let's not beat swords into ploughshares, but hand out swords to the police!
But a more optimal solution would be to announce that all terrorists are required to read Your peaceful sermons every day on this Forum, and those who don't read every day will be shocked with tasers!

There is no God. Only a demon that runs this world, and we're all supposed to kill each other.

Wow, Janoah! You have carved off a huge piece here. But unless I am very wrong your very basic position, as an Israeli, has now been reduced completely to a defensive posture. The stakes have now, and rather suddenly, become ‘existential’. So, my impression is that everything you are saying (it is really a shotgun blast referencing a whole range of ‘sources of conflict’) comes from a man, and a nation, fighting an “ultimate battle”.

You know of course that the Zionist Project had a dozen problems built into it which were recognized at the start. As far as I am aware what is now developing in the region is a greater ‘existential threat’ than any of the early Israeli battles.

I think I disagree with you when you use the term ‘anti-Semite’ to describe that is far more a position of ‘anti-Zionism’. The machinations of Zionists, and Zionism, have so very little to do with Judaism that, in my view, a separation must be made.

You bring up something quite interesting: The suggestion that ‘the Tanakh’ is something that could be understood. Who will understand it? Since it is a ‘document’ (for want of a better word) that pertains exclusively to a specific people. And only that people.

Well, a demon is a kind of a god, no? You know, Gary, your general pessimistic and rather hopeless interpretation of “world” is really Christian-derivative. I wonder if you see this?

You of all people see ‘the world’ through a lens of realism. I.e. the world, like Nature, ultimately reduces to the realization of a “demonic” situation. Ultimately, the essential enzyme of the world and its operations is like enzymes and microbes that devour the humus in a forest. Everything reduces to inevitable death, but then everything is recycled again into life and life’s forms.

But your view is ‘truly Christian’ insofar as you cannot — you will not! — accept this! It offends and disturbs you at your most fundamental and essential level!

Fear not, Gary! The rosy-cheeked Democratic Socialists have now burst, with righteous power and raised fists, onto the stage of political drama in America! They are the penicillin that The Nation so obviously needs to heal, to get well again! It is just around the corner: the Revolution of Magnitude that will bring prosperity and above all joy to the people — like rain on an ever-parched desert landscape. Oh look! 👀 A sunburst! The greenery of returning life! A scent of fructified soil!

Away, demon, away! Let the flowers bloom!

Trump always claimed to be a genius, and I suppose it does take a special kind of genius to screw up in such a comprehensive fashion.
It is interesting to note that every conflict after WWll has been unsuccessful in a military sense. Korea was not “won”. Vietnam was certainly lost. Only the expulsion of Iraq from Kuwait and the destruction of the Iraqi army in the first Gulf War could be said to be successful. The invasion of Iraq in the second Gulf War was somewhat successful. But Afghanistan? And now Iran.

Military might is rather much an illusion in this present. It is sad that the US waste so many resources on the entire enterprise.

The US military is great for small captures (like Panama) against a completely inferior opponent. As in Venezuela. But there is no will in the US to fight protracted wars that require real resolve.

Many Christians believe in a benevolent God or that God is "good". I do not. Not sure what you mean by my views being "derivative," any more than all humans are a "derivative" of the first humans. Per usual, your statement is an innuendo that is sloppy and vague, and yet tries to be so much more.

Yes, I understand all that. And in your case what I find interesting is that you seem to be deeply unsatisfied that such a god does not exist, and that the world that you live in is, at bottom, really pretty terrible. Your world is, as you say, a world ruled by, and created by, a demoniac entity. It is as if you live in one half of the Christian mythological picture — the realm of the Earth being Satan’s realm — but, for you, there is no transcendent spirit anywhere to be found. In this sense, and in your own metaphysics, the next step would be the discovery of that transcendent spirit.

I think your psychology is very derivative of Christian and post-Christian stances, if that is the right word. Why complain as much as you do that there is no benevolent god if indeed there is no such god nor any available recourse from the terrible world?

Everything is subject to the Law of Nature.
Blaming your vices on demons is not original.
For example, the West constantly fuels the war in Ukraine, demanding "victory on the battlefield" to the last Ukrainian, for the sake of their dreams of destroying Russia.
Trump tried to steer the West towards peace negotiations, but the EU was not having any of it.
At the same time, the EU is ruining itself by directing billions to explosions in the fields of Ukraine, ruining its economy and becoming subservient to China and Islamists.
All over Europe there are demands for freedom for Hamas terrorists, but in the EU there are no demonstrations for peace talks in Ukraine.
Millions have indeed fled Ukraine, two million have died on both sides, the country has been destroyed, but the EU is demanding that the war continue.
It is not demons that rule there, but suicidal demagoguery.
