Are you also a proud Misotheist, like Gary?
Gary's Corner
Re: Gary's Corner
I'm not any kind of theist... nor have I expressed hate for something that doesn't even exist for me.
Now... religion/theism... that's a whole different 'story'.
Personally, I haven't gotten the impression that Gary really believes in a god. I think he rails against the notion simply to vent his frustrations and to challenge people's beliefs about such a thing... which is good to challenge!
Re: Gary's Corner
Why are you such a putz, Walker?
Put your stupid TDS bullshit in your own topic instead of hijacking and renaming Gary's Corner. You're simply capitalizing on his popularity, as you know that few people will respond to any of the dishonest and brain-warped nonsense you write.
I've never seen anyone (such as you do) give so many 'positions' and 'perspectives' a bad name.

Re: The Tragedy of TDS
If the Abrahamic God is the truth, then we're living in a world where genocide and intimidation are divinely mandated norms. As with some Christians and "chosen" people out there, you don't seem to have any problem with those things as long as they don't happen to you or "yours". As long as your kids are fine, you don't care how many others suffer or die.
That's not the way I see things. Xenophobia, the inability to see "others" as equally human, seems like a mental illness as far as I can tell. That you think of Iranians as undeserving of moral consideration and just "things" to be bombed is immoral. The ability to dehumanize the "enemy" is the kind of belief that perpetuates suffering in this world. It's the sentiment that the Hitlers and Stalins feed off of and are enabled by.
If this were Nazi Germany, you would be one of those clamoring over the sanctity of the "fatherland" to the bitter end. Look at the price the German people paid for that sentiment. They fought almost to the death, almost to the last man. An entire generation of young German men was wiped off the face of the Earth. Had they surrendered and admitted their wrongs, more Germans would have stayed alive. No. They fought to the end in wars their leaders willingly instigated.

The Old Testament really is a horror show. You're right... and I have a theory about this Jesus fella. Rome was a relatively modern civilization compared to the world as it was in the days of the Old Testament. In those days, a wrathful power-hungry monster god ruled the erf. If he wasn't slaughtering a million people or telling some dude to kill his own son, he was flooding the place or dropping fire from the sky.
Now, how do you imagine this stuff sits with the Roman slave class citizen? If you were to invent/endorse a religion so you could mindfuck and control your slaves, would you want a religious story full of warmongering and death or a story that was chill and easy going? You'd want the latter because you don't wanna stir the citizens up (that's dangerous to the elite)... you wanna calm them down. Enter Jesus, the perfect guy for the job, right?
Jesus was what happens when a violent religious myth is refurbished by those that control the narrative. Jesus took the savage out of god... chilled the people out. Seriously, what if a Roman peasant got it into his head that, like the Jews, he's being cheated by somebody? You can't have an empire of suspicious slaves, Gary.

Re: Gary's Corner
We know those that put the New Testament together don't believe a word of it. Virgin births, hands-on healing, resurrections, turning one fish into a hundred, etc. Why then would they publish it? Because there's no other way to qualify the authority you are using unless your slaves are made to believe it is divine. They have to believe that the guy telling them to turn the other cheek so the Roman bourgeoisie can slap it isn't just an ordinary guy.
This is why they let these things into the bible. It's also difficult to disprove any of that nonsense happened. Today, we know it's nonsense, but those folks existed in an already semi-superstitious scientifically illiterate age, so it was easier to think that maybe all that stuff did happen. Remember, there was a vast intellectual distance between the educated classes that controlled Roman media and the slave classes that ate it.

"Xenophobia, the inability to see "others" as equally human, seems like a mental illness as far as I can tell."
But if everyone, despite any inequalities they may have, is human, then everyone is equally human, and you've said nothing.
For real for real, though, nothing can be equal but abstract concepts. Nothing in the material world is equal, and because concepts are epiphenomena, they don't express real facts about the world. For example, "we have an equal right to park there." There's one... and instance of equality. But it isn't, bro. The concealed premise is that there are rights. There aren't except as an abstract concept.
But now, if we do battle for that parking spot, we will quickly discover how unequal we are and there will be nothing abstract about it.

Every misotheist has his reasons.
Re: Gary's Corner
Excellent answer. Simple and honest.

So you’re saying he just shits on others with suppositions to see if they can dig out.
Gary demonstrably lacks the capacity to be Devil's Advocate for another, although he can be one for himself.
Re: Gary's Corner
Your continually false conclusions are a perfect example of subjective reality through a warped lens.

Some of us know it's nonsense. Yet, there are many still carrying on fantasy holy wars and convincing their "slaves' to believe it.

@Walker:
Was preemptively attacking Iran morally acceptable? No. It was not morally acceptable to preemptively attack Iran.
Should we seek military victory in a war we preemptively initiated? No. We should seek to end it immediately, even if it means concessions, because aggressors should not be rewarded.
Do two wrongs make a right? No.
Has Trump brought dishonor to the People of the United States? Yes.
Do you agree with the answers I gave above? Yes or no?

The question you need to ask yourself to get on even keel, Gary, is ... Compared to what?
You ignore a lot, and you swallow a lot of crap churned out by a propagandizing media.
You'll find that your highly selective outrage, and reasoning, is measured by ideological fantasies, likely not even your know, rather than reality.
Applying that question to your BS is also useful in other areas of your information stream that reek of ... you being propagandized.
For example, your premise of "pre-emptive," has been disproven in discussions, dismissed by you, and then ignored by you in your reasoning.
I would say that Yes ... Your ignoring the truth with your premise that has already been proven faulty, is rather ignorant of you.
Compared to What? ... is an excellent new practice for Gary.
