Is there a God? If so, what is She like?

I think what I was trying to express above is that there was an experience that crossed a different dimension. The experience is beyond an intellectual understanding. Even trying to accurately describe that experience would bastardize it.

Did it involve god appearing on your toast, or UFOs?

I was experiencing my reality with some of the normal filters removed or repressed; No spurious thoughts, movements, or emotions.

I became more not me. The me we normally associate as us. My consciousness was transferred from my mind into the immediate reality.

Then the part came where the experience is beyond anything a human could describe or understand. But then for days & weeks before this experience I was having mini-experiences like this. Almost like learning to fly. Short trips in the beginning.

Sure. But perhaps you should have PM'ed me. Don't think Rick or the Moderators appreciate open drug deals happening out in the public forum. Just sayin.

Perhaps it is you who are foolish ...if you think that the yourself that you referred to as me is me.

Does it mean that a spiritual aspirant has to live a boring life without love and laughter, without fun and joy? Of course not, there is a difference between love, laughter, fun, joy and being attached. When you are attached you become dependent on the attachment. You have expectations from that attachment and these dependencies and expectations create misery. They create connections on samsara – the world and these pull us down and stop us from liberation, freedom, nirvana, moksh, mukti. The challenge of life is very clear - not to be attached, to be free. The challenge of life is not to stop loving but to love universally, to love as the soul, to laugh without any expectations. There is nothing wrong in enjoying this beautiful world, which is actually a myth, an illusion, but what is wrong is getting attached to this world, getting attached to properties, things, people and relationships. These are the things that bind us down. Instead of us being in yoga - union with God, we are in samasara. We get attached to the world and getting attached to the world is not the right thing for a spiritual aspirant. The one who wants to go on a spiritual path, onward, upward, forward, God-ward, for him, detachment. viragya is the key. One must live as the spirit, the atman, the soul and not the body. One must be aware at all times that they are part of the divine consciousness. Then this will give sat chit aanand; the aanand, that comes from the sat – the truth of chit - the consciousness that God is everywhere.

Why does the immortal soul need to attain moksha? What does it want liberation from? Why does it need happiness so badly? If the soul is part of God, should it not be in a permanent state of moksha?
The soul is a part of the creator. It is a manifestation of God. The plan of God seems to be such that the soul is put in this world, which is full of attractions and cravings, to test its desire to regain its original source. Therefore, it is the purpose of the soul on earth to realize the truth - what it is and what it must aspire for, and finally that it must go back to God.

It wants liberation from the cravings of the mind and the attractions of the sense pleasures, all manifestations of God, to see whether the soul is pure enough to seek God or to seek the world.

The essential character of God and the soul is happiness, therefore, happiness is the soul. The soul doesn’t need happiness, it is happiness. Unfortunately, when it is stuck in this world it loses its happiness due to its cravings and desires that lead to disappointments.

How can the soul be in a permanent state of moksha, when it is put in this world to go through Samsara or the world? The purpose of life is for the soul to attain moksha. Therefore, the soul cannot be in a permanent state of moksha as long as it’s in the world. The moment the soul is liberated, you are right, it becomes in a permanent state of moksha.

Two Hindu sadhus near Pashupatinath Temple in Kathmandu, Nepal. Usually sadhus live by themselves, on the fringes of society, and spend their days in their pursuit of moksha.

They look so detached...from reality.

If the soul is part of God, would it also not be as detached as God? Then how does it lose that detachment start craving? Also if the world is so full of desires and cravings, and if these desires and cravings are bad, then why did God create them?
It wants liberation from the cravings of the mind and the attractions of the sense pleasures, all manifestations of God, to see whether the soul is pure enough to seek God or to seek the world.
So essentially the soul comes to earth just to ultimately go back.
The essential character of God and the soul is happiness, therefore, happiness is the soul. The soul doesn’t need happiness, it is happiness. Unfortunately, when it is stuck in this world it loses its happiness due to its cravings and desires that lead to disappointments.
Again, if this world is so bad that it takes away the happiness of the soul, why did God create it? What is the point of creating something with the sole purpose of creating unhappiness?
How can the soul be in a permanent state of moksha, when it is put in this world to go through Samsara or the world? The purpose of life is for the soul to attain moksha. Therefore, the soul cannot be in a permanent state of moksha as long as it’s in the world. The moment the soul is liberated, you are right, it becomes in a permanent state of moksha.
Same thing again. Why is this world such a bad place that it makes even the soul unhappy? First there was no world. Just God and souls. So there was no world to distract them from their permanent state of happiness. So why did God then create a place where the soul would be sent to be unhappy and try to come back and be happy again?

I've finally seen why they call you "AiR".
Everything you type is fantasy, speculation and unreasonable in-evident ramblings of the imagination.
I dub thee "HOT AiR"
