I got a significant problem with paying somebody else's bills.

What about sick children without the means to pay their own medical bills? Do you not regard risk-sharing as part of the social contract?

Label me a bully and ogre, but yeah, I have a problem with paying for them too.

Let the parents or caregivers of such children go, hat in hand, to a charitable organization...there are several reputable, national, charities specializing in such things.

Yes, I know, not a perfect solution, by a long shot, but it's sumthin'.

Also: my view of the 'social contract' is, I won't steal from you, hurt you, kill you as long as you refrain from doing those things to me.

Nuthin' in there about taking care of you (or you, me) against my (or your) will.

Compassion, by definition, is voluntary. Making me pay for another, when I'd rather do otherwise (like takin' care of my own kid) is a kind of slavery.
