A Challenge to Richard Dawkins and the Atheists
Re: A Challenge to Richard Dawkins and the Atheists
Mr Can and thedoc are derailing this thread. Regardless of who organises charities, by their own admission, a christians behaviour is determined by whether they want daddy to give them sweeties, or they want to avoid daddy beating them with a stick. Both of them have threatened 'Wait until daddy gets home', either in terms of the day of judgement or personal death. This is how stupid parents try to coerce children they cannot control. Mr Can and thedoc need to grow up.

But then they wouldn't be so much fun to play with.uwot wrote: Mr Can and thedoc need to grow up.

True, but don't worry; it won't happen.Harbal wrote:But then they wouldn't be so much fun to play with.uwot wrote: Mr Can and thedoc need to grow up.

That is a relief, and one less thing I would need to worry about.vegetariantaxidermy wrote:Well I don't think either of you have to worry about anyone having any level of 'hots' for you.

Y'know, it's interesting...thedoc wrote:That is a relief, and one less thing I would need to worry about.vegetariantaxidermy wrote:Well I don't think either of you have to worry about anyone having any level of 'hots' for you.
I notice that the Atheist set on this strand is absolutely DESPERATE to make the main question change to something personal. They don't want to discuss Atheism (or "atheism") at any cost. They'd rather haggle about how to spell things, or who can come up with the more petty epithets, or slander their opposition, or even wish the poor to starve in the streets...
ANYTHING except have to address the key question: has Atheism even got one thing to commend itself as a position? (That is, other than insulting every other belief, a strategy that, in addition to being irrelevant, is hopelessly derivative of whatever value may actually lie in those more substantial ideologies).
Can Atheism find any basis for recommending itself in its own right? That's what they can't seem to tackle.
P.S. -- Wait for it: we're going to get another "shiny, irrelevant object" waved in front of us immediately.
Re: A Challenge to Richard Dawkins and the Atheists
You have been implying what my beliefs are, and I was just trying to find out what you thought I believed. So far you have it right, but the question is how do you interpret what is written? Which so far you have dodged that question. I'll give you a hint, I'm not a Creationist.Dubious wrote:That the Bible is the word of god and that Jesus is the Son of the OT god. So on and so forth…..thedoc wrote:Nice dodge, Again what do I believe according to you?
What you’re supposed to believe is a different question entirely the answer to which is not to be presumed by me. That’s what you’re own intelligence is for. Why try to bait someone else with a question that can’t be answered, since I’m not you?thedoc wrote:I was asking what you think that I am supposed to believe.

Go for it, it will give you something productive to do.Harbal wrote: I've just noticed Greta has turned up and I need to go and ask if she fancies swapping a few dirty PMs.

Well if you like this sort of thing, you get 'free-will' for free.Immanuel Can wrote:...

So, in order to avoid talking about atheism, people are deliberately seeking out a thread on that very subject so they can talk about something else instead. Who knows, I suppose stranger things have happened.Immanuel Can wrote: Y'know, it's interesting...

I can't speak for anyone else but I certainly don't have the same fascination with atheism that you do, in fact, I find it a pretty boring subject. The only reason I'm bothering with this thread is because it's so much fun to keep poking you with a stick and watching your frantic reaction, thinly disguised under a transparent veil of (apparent) calmness with a laughing yellow face on top, like a cherry on a cake, to try to reinforce the illusion. Can Atheism find any basis for recommending itself in its own right? That's what they can't seem to tackle.
I've had second thoughts, I don't want to jeopardise a valued friendship.thedoc wrote:Go for it, it will give you something productive to do.Harbal wrote: I've just noticed Greta has turned up and I need to go and ask if she fancies swapping a few dirty PMs.

Aaaaand...there it is. A simply lovely collection of shiny objects.Harbal wrote: ...I've had second thoughts, I don't want to jeopardise a valued friendship.
But no attempt whatsoever to answer the question.
That was entirely expected.

Mannie,
Speakin' only for myself, here...
has Atheism even got one thing to commend itself as a position?
Nope...it's just a placeholder I apply to a conclusion which comes at the end of an assessment.
The assessment is on-going, the conclusion is tentative.
Can Atheism find any basis for recommending itself in its own right?
Nope...I wouldn't recommend it to any one, for any reason.
Why?
Cuz folks will arrive at what they arrive at without me poking, prodding, cajoling, or appealing.
Some will go theist, some will go atheist...never known a body to go either way without a natural skew in place to begin with.
Now, why don't you buncha doofi leave each other be for a while...you're all givin' theists/atheists a bad rep.

Re: A Challenge to Richard Dawkins and the Atheists
Of course you do. It's all you've shown that you're interested in seeing. You fabricate a monster that you can lash out at and see yourself as better than. Whoopee! It's absurd and childish and extraordinarily ignorant. Your obsession with it is because your ego gets such a payoff, and you've not yet discovered how to rise beyond that. So you keep spinning in your beloved circle, acting proud of yourself for doing so.Immanuel Can wrote:I notice that the Atheist set...

You're absolutely right, quirky, this is serving no purpose whatsoever, all it is is a pointless name calling exercise.henry quirk wrote:

Just as a point of interest, henry, have you noticed that the biggest knob head participating in this shameful thread just happens to be one of those theist Johnnies? I won't mention any names cos he'll only start bleating on about shiny things.

Nice evasion, there would have to be a valued friendship there to begin with, but I will let that up to your judgment.Harbal wrote:I've had second thoughts, I don't want to jeopardise a valued friendship.thedoc wrote:Go for it, it will give you something productive to do.Harbal wrote: I've just noticed Greta has turned up and I need to go and ask if she fancies swapping a few dirty PMs.
