But now we know that beyond about 13 billion light years ,
the images are so redshifted as to no longer be visable light,
so Olber was wrong ,and the Universe probably is infinite ,
But olber is still regarded as correct,,???
Science is a bit slow to correct it'self ,
we need to give it a nudge every now and then

Thanks for sharing your belief, you have a lot of presupposition there, and don't we all, but I'd be the first to admit that in fact we just don't know. But what ever the reality of our birth actually is, in truth, it's waiting for us to uncover, assuming we're capable of surviving ourselves/seeing beyond our noses!

We are young! I guess the best thing we can do, is to try and balance our spheres, as in nature, in everything we do, or chaos will ensue, and on every available clear night, in a location with no light pollution, if that's possible anymore, sit back and enjoy the light show. The truth, was/is/shall ever be, our universe!

My point, for those that may not understand, is that if a star relative to earth is opening, then it always has, relative to our existence, let alone our capability of effectively peering into the heavens, such that, how could Doppler shift possibly be seen. Couldn't it simply be a star of small mass, thus burning red that's traveling on our relative trajectory at our relative speed?

You're measuring the universe's 13.7 billion earth years against what, humanities 200,000 earth years.

for starters humans have walked the planet for over 3 million years .
Our sun is about 4.5 billion years old ,and will live for about another 5 .
So it will take about 10 billion years for our sun to be born live and die .
Big suns can become black holes .
Some black holes are as big as 18 billion suns .
So be brave ,take a risk , and in your humble opinion ,
"how long would it take to make such a big black hole"<?????????

Godfree, every bit of this was an answer to your inability to consider 'nothing.' My point was that just because your puny little 18-100 earth year human mind cannot fathom 'nothing' that possibly dates 13.7 billion earth years ago, doesn't mean it wasn't the condition prior to the big bang. You assume that your take on universal physics is the only thing possible as if you could possibly know. The human race is an insignificant spec in an infinite sea of possibility. For any human to claim to "KNOW" anything about the universe if pure falsehood. You may hypothesize however.
