We start this new column with the question which plausibly must be answered before we can answer any other question.

Without access to the article, (being not a subscriber) my answer is; I know I can be wrong. This statement, one made, is incontrovertible. It follows from this that I cannot have absolute certainty about anything. So either I must abandon the word knowledge and everything that pertains to it, or else I must accept that less-than-absolute certainty can still count as knowledge.
This is not a problem. I am human.
I cannot walk perfectly, I cannot sing perfectly, I cannot remember perfectly, and I cannot know perfectly. So what? I can walk, sing, remember and know.
