C. Hitchens knows better now.
Thank you! I appreciate your continuous unrelenting efforts in proving my point.
Hey, it's the truth. It's not required that you like it.
As always it's YOUR truth, the only one you accept as biblical; not THE truth according to nature, science, logic and rationality.

Most here already know that your acceptance of truth begins with Adam and Eve, the ORIGINAL mating couple!

...and of course, YOU would KNOW that Hitchens knows better now. So do tell, did he end up in hell, or merely oblivion in which case he would know nothing or is the poor fellow still waiting for a final verdict?

I don't have A "truth." But THE truth is available to everybody. Truth is a universal, not a particular possession. So whatever the truth is, it will turn out to be the same for us both.
...and of course, YOU would KNOW that Hitchens knows better now. So do tell, did he end up in hell, or merely oblivion in which case he would know nothing or is the poor fellow still waiting for a final verdict?
I'm hoping he is much happier now. It's possible...he was certainly rethinking his stance when cancer began to take him.

A little known fact: one of the last things Hitchens did was a debate tour with Larry Taunton and Oxford professor John Lennox. The purpose was to have open debates over "religion." But apparently, as Taunton tells the story, what was not announced was that while they drove between venues, they were being quite friendly with each other, and Hitchens himself was reading the Gospel of John aloud while they travelled. Maybe Mr. Hitchens learned something. I hope he did. And maybe he found that life beyond life was far better than he had imagined it could be. I sincerely hope so.

But if there's no life beyond this one, Mr. Hitchens knows nothing now. And his life has come to nothing, and eternally, it will be nothing. He once said, "There is nothing more, and I want nothing more." Well, "you can't always get what you want," as those famous theologians The Rolling Stones so aptly said. Maybe Hitchens got better than he was asking for.

And he knows better now. Either way, that will be true.

First you assert "it's the truth" and now you say "you don't have a truth". Very convenient having it both ways. I think most North American Indians would qualify that as "speaking with forked tongue" which you've mastered to perfection throughout all your impressive postings.

Truth generally may "be available to everybody but not acceptable to everybody; you made that clear innumerable times. Why else would you replace evolution, for instance - which you call evolutionism as a pejorative - with a mythical Garden of Eden event inhabited by an original mating couple? You made a choice as to what the truth is, not as a "universal" but as a "particular possession" required to uphold the integrity of biblical scripture.

This needs to be amended.

If there is no life beyond this one then yours defaults to the same conclusion as you described for Hitchens. Whatever the outcome, it does not imply "his life has come to nothing" for such is determined by posterity and subsequent influence; in your case however, I wouldn't deny it.

One can as well, regard eternity as that which consumes EVERYTHING that ever was into NOTHING, forging the preconditions of a new beginning, recycling itself endlessly including, in this instance, all the gods created by one of nature's most ephemeral creations.

No, it's only one way. I think I was clear: we all have one truth. It doesn't belong to me, and it doesn't belong to you. It's universal. It is the same for everybody.

If you think it's not, just try to defy the truth. It always wins...eventually.

You think it matters to somebody who's dead, if there's nothing after death, whether or not other people remember him? You think he rolls over in his grave, and says, "Well, at least they're still thinking about me"?

If the dead know nothing, then nothing matters to them any longer. There are no consolations any more, for them. Where there's life, there's hope: but you can't "console" a handful of dirt. And that's all that's left of them...and of all of us, if you're right.

Then, eventually, the whole universe itself perishes, in a thing called "heat death." And nothing ever happens again, for all of infinity. That's what science tells us will be the final outcome. What, then, will it matter what the "short-winded accents" of men have achieved? For it all goes to dust.

And you claim to know what that universal truth is. That's why you said, "It's the truth". Otherwise, you would acknowledge that you're speaking for yourself, and only of what you think you know.

You don't know that -- you just keep making up stuff that you try to apply to everyone. That's what you've 'made clear'.

Like everybody, sometimes I know, and sometimes I don't. But the truth will still win, whether I know it or not. It never loses.

No it's not and in your case never has been. Your truth is completely partisan and based only on scripture. Your truth is one that was denoted and formalized as such 2000 years ago. Your truth is one based on evolutionism, NOT evolution which the entire planet is proof of. Your truth is one of an original mating couple planted in the Garden of Eden as the beginning of the human race...and on it goes!

So no! The claim that truth is universal coming from you is bullshit!

Again, I repeat: Truth can be universal when unmodified by any opinion ANYONE can have of it; then there is accepted truth, the one you wish to live by no-matter how stupidly absurd it may be.

It is as Nietzsche insightfully said (you know, the one you called a weasel):
"All things are subject to interpretation. Whichever interpretation prevails at a given time is a function of power and not truth."

Yeah, it is. The truth is the same for every person...there are only those who may know it, and those who may not. But not knowing doesn't produce a different "truth," just a different relation to the truth.

Imposing your beliefs on everyone is not truthful.

"Imposing"? You'll have trouble showing how I've "imposed" by writing an email, and simply having an opinion you don't like. That would be a wondrous achievement indeed -- compulsion by remote.

Let me know when you figure out how that's possible. Maybe I can even use it to master telekinesis.

As for the truth, it invariably "imposes" itself on everybody. Those who hate it always pay the price of defying reality. So your real conflict is with the truth.

Well, you know what you CAN find on a map? Bruce Lee. Remarkably, his mistrust of truth didn't save him from being located in one very particular plot of ground...wherever that is. And that is the truth.

I believe we are confusing two things, THE TRUTH and knowledge of the truth. And "knowledge of the truth" involves knowledge/certainty of knowledge of the truth

IC, what do you men by "those who might know it and those who do not" -- BUT, the latter are just as certain that they do know it as you are. Is there ANY ARGUMENT you could put forth to convince them that your knowledge of truth is the right one. Or is your your one, absolute truth UNKOWABLE in that sense.
