Alexis Jacobi wrote: Wed Aug 26, 2026 2:16 pm Well, certainly my views in this area were I realize profoundly affected by a full-body reading of Nietzsche (Genealogy of Morals perhaps the most influential).

For me, and at bottom, the issue reduces to one of “complicity”. Let me explain with a tangible example: the source of my wealth, my livelihood, and therefore my life, my development, my opportunities, derives directly from REITs that are held by massive insurance (and other) companies. So, perhaps indirectly, I have (a degree of) ownership interest in the fate, financially and otherwise, of America. But that ‘fate’, that abundance, those creations of prosperity, are completely tied-in with financial and industrial “causal chains” with roots in historical events.

So, when I mentioned the plowed-over ecosystem of the Mississippi Basin, and even the Deep South (original America) as the initial sources of wealth, I do not have the luxury of separation or of absolution. I am in that sense ‘complicit’.

Is ny “reading” radical? I take radical to mean honestly realistic.

You see, “you” also have ownership interests. Perhaps you are not aware of those lines of complicity. But they are there. Same with Lacewing, Seeds and Herr Dubious.

To all appearances we, i.e. the world, have entered or we are entering a time of war. I do not like it necessarily, nor relish the struggle, but the struggle is real.

Now, you Lacewing and Seeds are clearly of a breed of citizen-moderns who turn against your own country and interests. You are part of a mass movement in strange ideological confusion. You are “God’s righteous children” and you are like characters in In The Penal Colony (based on Genealogy of Morals).

You play and rehearse a deep game of righteous posing because you are engaged in hypocritical negation of your own complicity.

Any of this make sense?
Gary: Do you feel that your answer to what is good and bad is the best answer there is for anyone to come up with?
I cannot say it is an “answer” per se, but rather a realistic starting position for a more sober analysis.

Take Iran as an example we could discuss. It is probably a very definite “good” if the controlling regime were toppled and replaced and if a better government took power. Literally better for ‘everyone’. So the effort to do that was not “bad” it was terribly un-strategic. And, of course, a notorious Zionist regime, desirous of a substantial remodel of the ME, desires a ‘better’ government in Tehran.

I was listening to Norman Finkelstein expounding on the way that China evolved from “a sack of potatoes” into a developed and cohesive nation by way of Mao’s “cultural revolution” which, among many things, entailed mass murder. Like 20-30 million.

So, tell me how ultimately I must adjudicate Gaza? One hundred thousand killed? In some sense so what? Israel must live ((Am Chai Yisrael) according to its own terms. I don’t know. This is life, this is history, this is reality.

These are realities, Gary. How shall we adjudicate them in real terms?
Does mere acknowledgement of complicity followed by apologetics (it's just "reality") for that complicity count as anything? Why not acknowledge our complicity and insist that leaders not create more unnecessary suffering and terror in the world? Why not take a moral stand instead of all this "metaphysical" hand-waving nonsense, talking around the issue? Why not put moral pressure on bad actors instead of trying to excuse them?

The synthesis of Alexis Jacobi’s Teachings to the Droolers is that Truth is our friend, and that knowledge of Truth is not beyond our reach. Faith in honest seeking is at the heart of Jacobi’s teaching. I say: We must judge rightly, but not as litigants and rather as arbitors. If you will learn how to research properly, intelligently, you will be rewarded with real happiness. Curiosity (pitiable dullards!) is an extreme virtue. Alexis Jacobi shows the way for you pitiable losers to begin a process of escape from your chains! I speak from within a Halo of Resplendent Light! Selah.

1) Did Trump instigate an unjust war? Yes.

2) Is perpetual bombing of Gaza going to solve the problem of violence in the Middle East? No.

3) Are "military solutions" really solutions to anything? No.

4) As an American citizen, should I support a monster in the White House? No.

Which of the above am I incorrect about?

1) An ‘unjust’ war? That is very debatable. It could very well be described as a just (or justifiable) war carried our extremely irresponsibly and at a very bad time.

2) The destruction of Gaza is strictly an Israeli project. And from their perspective if they succeed in making Gaza unlivable, and if they can drive the Gazans into other territories, it would be a tremendous “good” for Israel.

3) Our own country came into existence by way of war and rebellion. And war has been a constant process and activity of humankind through all of history. What is this verb cognate “to solve” doing there?

4) That is a deeply psychological view, a demonology really. However, you do know that I am disenchanted by Trump’s failures. But were he to have had success (in the areas I outlined or that the Dissident Right outlines) you’d take that to be not demoniac mischief but the doings of a literal Satan.

And what did you have for breakfast this morning?!?

So I am to take that as you saying that all my assertions 1-4 above are incorrect. Is that correct?

I'm not sure how to take your answers other than as some kind of disagreement with mine. Really, none of your musing or meandering answered whether my answers to the questions were correct or not. That's really all I'm asking. If you don't want to provide a straight answer, then whatever. I suspect you disagree with my answers above. Is my suspicion correct?

Is the Iran war an “unjust war”? Why? What is unjust about it? And how do you define a ‘just war’?

One thing at a time.

Fighting during the summer had settled down with a cease in physical hostilities between Iran and the US and Israel. In February, Trump initiated a surprise attack, assassinating Iranian leaders without warning. Had Iran done something like that to us, then I think it would be an unjust act on the part of Iran. Since I believe it to be unjust to launch a surprise attack on another country, and the US did just that, am I wrong to conclude that the attack on Iran was an unjust act? Or am I wrong that it would be unjust for Iran to do the same thing to us (in effect justifying Iran to do such an attack against us)?

Can you provide enlightenment of why you disagree that the attack on Iran in February was an unjust act, if such is the case? Or do you instead agree with me that the February attack on Iran was unjust? And if you don't think it is unjust, by what reasoning or logic are you making the assertion that it was not unjust?

Ok but remember: I can present the picture but I cannot make you understand.

From the US perspective, and certainly that of Israel, Iran is a significant obstacle. Let’s establish that its government is at least “problematic” and also certainly despotic. That seems to be the consensus among all the players in the region. Creating many problems. So, when war was decided on, capitation of the regime was part of a very Machiavellian strategy. Pretty typical of Israel’s ‘philosophy’ of conduct. Perhaps a bit less so for the US.

I see and note the deep treachery in the assassination. However I am also certain that Iran engages in similar treacherous acts. That is all in the nature of power-politics.

The object was to create an outcome where more serious war would be avoided. So from one perspective it could be seen as positive though hardly noble. But smart.

It failed utterly.

Had it worked, however, it likely would have been regarded in the Occident as brilliant, and begrudgingly as a positive by most surrounding states.

That’s what I thought: one of those Canadian-German enclaves. But why do you write in American English. I’m stumped.

If you already know why ask? That's a very bad habit to have! But practice makes perfect, and you've been practicing for a long time in how to supplant reality with imagination as conditional to wishful thinking.
