Question for Rick Lewis

Post by Gary Childress »

If Philosophy Now registered itself as a "non-profit" or else a "not-for-profit" and could benefit from public grants and/ or tax breaks (as well as maybe solicit donations from wealthy philanthropists interested in a better society), would that be a plausible strategy for holding onto the site? This place is kind of like PBS or the BBC to me.

A source of Leftist propaganda? Why would you insult Rick that way? He's been a great mod.

If you think PBS and BBC aren't the best quality channels for information, you either have never listened to them or else you're so f****** brain dead that you abhor quality programming such as documentaries and dedicated news and informative shows. Good God. How stupid can you get Immanuel?

I'm serious, IC. You genuinely have some sort of intellectual deficiency. You actually think PBS and the BBC are terrible things? Really? The tinfoil hat is cutting off circulation to your brain. There's a time when a person's beliefs are so ridiculous that ridicule is the only proper response.

I know. That's the sad part about it. You watch the BBC, that covers up things like the Rotherham scandal, or PBS, that only shills for the Dems, and you lap up every word, because they demand you believe they're reliable. But these stations are funded entirely by Socialist politicians. And it never occurs to you that they might not be completely impartial?

Good luck with that.

You either don't listen to those news sources or you're delusional about what they're saying.

The Democrats and their evil henchmen are secretly trying to take over the world for dastardly ends, and the noble Republicans are fighting to stop them. The CDC is out to kill everyone with vaccines and the freedom lovers at Fox News, Breitbart, Pajama Press, and Patriot Post are the only ones we can rely on to save us. Why, because they're nice guys who think gun ownership is one of the most important things in the world!

Or here's a good one: A guy named Jesus died over 2000 years ago, but he's going to return and resurrect the dead. And everything else in the Bible is pure Truth as well (the one and only Truth). Don't fall for skeptics who say we don't know if it's true or not.

Mister Can posted a link once to a PragerU video claiming to show that black drivers are treated too well by American police officers. His opinion on reliability of sources is worth nothing.

Perhaps the PBS funding methods should be adopted to fund this new foundation. Semi-annual televised philoso-thons, complete with phone banks manned by celebrity volunteers. It looks like the site costs $30 per month to run, so we'll need our big hitters to really step up to the plate on this one.

Maybe if we can get Walker to interrupt his purchasing of Golden Trump bibles and training shoes for a couple of months, we can redirect that lucrative stream of cash towards the preservation of philosophy.
