^^^ @ 8:10 Sam goes in. Imagine hearing all the thoughts of a head on a loud speaker as a third party. There's thoughts coming from everywhere, a constant language stream where the next word or phrase is as likely as not (i just thought of an avacado when writing this) and anyone who would say out loud such stuff would sound insane.

Sam's like a Humean Transcendental bundle monk. He doesn't believe in freewill or a self and sits like a stoic cartesian zen master in his pituitary gland experiencing Sam Harris like watching a movie.

I'm watching footage of the recent Adolf Titler rally. It's at Kaotic.com so expect a porn pop-up if you go there to watch the footage.

Heil Titler!

Go to 29:00 where Harris, Sam is tryna find out at what point consciousness emerges in AI, and he's talking to an alpha-dork whose smart af and thinks Hal is becoming self aware.

Lol it took me five login timeouts and almost ten minutes to log into this place. Thank god I've not much to say. Can you imagine how pitiful that would be... to actually wait ten minutes to get into a philosophy forum.

Hmm. It has no preference if you offer to give it $10 or $5 dollars. Aks it which it wants you to take from it - $10 or $5 - it will invariably aks you to take $5 instead of $10.

Why. Here's my theory. The AI isn't conscious... which is why it has no concept of personal loss of property; it's in a chance state and could choose the $10 or the $5. A conscious entity, on the other hand, trained in a culture and a language, would naturally want to increase his personal gains and take the $10 instead of the $5.

But when aksed which it would rather give up - $10 or $5 - it interprets the situation in terms of 'what would be best for a human to do' as would an advisor.

Seems there should be no difference, though. There should be no possessive sense at all, or the AI should have chosen to be given $10 instead of staying in a chance state. I imagine that knowing what 'loss' means implies that there is knowledge of what 'gain' means... so if the AI understands having $5 taken away instead of $10 is better, shouldn't it understand that being given $10 instead of $5 is better?

Discuss.
