Let us not be confused by synonyms, but let us show we have the intelligence to know that a noun is defined in terms of a standard of measure of some relative difference called a verb, i.e., the definitive sentence, for example Tom is a cat.
Now, we can exchange the name Tom, for any name we like, but the end result is that name will always indicate that it belongs to a cat or the statement is simply a lie. It is not like, what is done today, when, for example, we define slavery, and then substitute the word and claim someone is not a slave, even though they have existed their whole life, like in America or any other country, in a state of involuntary servitude. If you cannot maintain a simple identity between a name and a definition, you are just hopelessly stupid.
Now, for the word Jew, you can substitute any name of any cult claiming to believe in their particular version of God, or Truth, so it covers both religion and science, you cannot claim to believe in any substituted word, when in fact, you cannot prove that you comply with the definition. Any two nouns are equal, when and only when their definitions are equal. Grammatical fact.
