Email not working, hassles with neighbours

Post by Maia »

Firstly, if anyone has tried to email me, apologies. I've been locked out for a while, and I'm not sure why. This is particularly annoying because I can't change my email for my Facebook account, without confirming it via the old email. I do, of course, have another email, for bills and things like that, but I never give that one out.

Yesterday evening I heard a sound of splitting wood outside, and had a pretty good idea what it was, too, as next door's kids are always playing football in our cul-de-sac. I went out to investigate, and sure enough, the fence to my front garden had a large gap in it. I then had to crawl over my front lawn to find the errant piece of wood, which, when I finally did so, had two lovely nails sticking up out of it. That would have been really great to step on, if I hadn't heard it break in the first place, and didn't know it was there. The kids were still playing football and one of them came over, having evidently seen what I was doing, and claimed that the fence had been broken all day, as he'd seen it on the way to school. Needless to say, I didn't believe him, and said so. I would try and talk to their parents about it but I know there's very little point, as they can barely speak English, or at least, pretend not to, when it suits them. This isn't the first time something like this has happened, either, as a couple of years ago their kids were breaking down the much higher fence in my back garden.

In other news, the issue of unisex toilets / changing rooms / uniforms is still rumbling on at work. Whatever the leisure centre's plans might have been, the court case defining sex as something real seems to have thrown a spanner in the works, thankfully, at least for now, but I doubt it will last. At our last staff meeting we all agreed to oppose it again.

Are you not renting?

A broken fence would be the landlord's problem. Both fixing it and talking to the neighbors about it.

I suppose I'll have to do that if it goes on, though I'd rather not.

Another option is to complain to the council, since they're council tenants, while I'm private.

Your landlord is 'difficult' ?

No, the exact opposite. My landlord is a friend of my Dad's, and I'd rather handle things myself, if at all possible.
