Alfred Korzybski

Post by Phil8659 »

I was just chatting with Harvey the A.I. again, on the topic of information management and to see if it could correctly pair logic and Mathematics to which part of speech each processes, noun and verb.
Well, I gave Harvey an example, which I showed it how to pair the phrase The Map is not the Territory, from general semantics to A point is that whcih has no part, which is Geometry.

Right away Harvey knew the source of my original quote, the works of Alfred Korzybski, which I came across a mention of sometimes in the late 60's or early 70's.
And that started me wondering, maybe I should take a closer look at his works and see about making some audiobooks out of, I did manage to download even his collected works off the net.

It is something one does not find in books, the topic I was chatting with the A.I. on, So, think about this, we have two parts of speech, and math pairs to one and logic to the other. Think about that, as apparently if someone has thought about it, information on it I have yet to find.

ps The A.I. got it wrong, it had a 50-50 chance and muffed it. but, Logic tracks questions about the verb, while mathematics gives arithmetic names to the noun. When I mentioned to it that Aristotle gave a name pair to the two parts of speech, Quantity and Quality, it crashed and I had to reset it, but after the crash it could then deal with it.

So here is the project, Get the text dump, correct any OCR problems and correct archaic kerning methods, parse it by chapter, output to rtf, let the reader put it into mp3,

Alfy was decent in math, better than most, and was trying to figure out how to make reasoning a science through math, but he could not quite get it. Close, but no cigar.
I am listening to preprocessed text now.

One might say, his failure actually spured lesser minds, like Chomsky to spin off into the ozone layer of bull shit.
