Trump as Jesus

Post by phyllo »

Surely, Trump posting an image of himself dressed as Jesus and 'healing' someone with light coming out of his hands is ample evidence of his mental illness.

The royal touch (also known as the king's touch) was a form of laying on of hands, whereby French and English monarchs touched their subjects, regardless of social classes, with the intent to cure them of various diseases and conditions. The thaumaturgic touch was most commonly applied to people suffering from tuberculous cervical lymphadenitis (better known as scrofula or the king's evil), and exclusively to them from the 16th century onwards. […] The claimed power was most notably exercised by monarchs who sought to demonstrate the legitimacy of their reign and of their newly founded dynasties.

This might be a stretch but in the discourse circulating in dissident circles it is noted that democracy as a political form leaves many things to be desired. (We do not live in democracy in any case, we live in ultra-practiced hybrids.)

There are some who do believe that a monarchy has superior elements over ‘democracy’ (rule by averages). A “proper monarch” can rule in an aristocratic manner and, theoretically, make the better decisions for people’s welfare. A politician must pander to the drooling masses; is only able to serve a limited time; and sells out to the highest bidder.

I suppose that Trump plays into the “king” image for a few different reason, but it does seem to be true that the Republican establishment would prefer a monarchical-type ruler rather than rulership by the Brown Masses of the New Demographic.

Look, don’t blame me, I am just reporting things.

Good to know that His Royal Trumpness was simply reviving the ancient tradition of laying on hands, so nothing sacrilegious about that, hooray.

And RFK Jr is overjoyed that now there is a good way to heal those who through fear of vaccines are falling to such antique diseases as scrofula, the sweating flux, anthrax, lickey end, tennis nipple, and wookie hole.

Superstitious nonsense in the 21st century.

God help US.

But think about it, Don Señor Flash, Trump really did broadcast a “healing touch” in his hundreds of campaign revivals. He operated like a non-religious but apostolic demagogue and his essential promises were national healing ❤️‍🩹 and New Life. You just gotta see things as simulacra of ‘the real thing’.

And note this! Over the months my Healing Grace has flowed from my own lustrous hands and benefited hundreds here. And I see enormous improvements in you that cause tears to well in my eyes!

Mysteries are afoot! And the Straight is open! My investment portfolio is stabilized again. I’m going shopping! 🛒

Or he has a sense of humour. He's a natural troll. The pearl-clutching is pathetic.

Are you saying he sees himself as a European monarch?

Who is the name of Heaven knows?! Neither you nor I.

I am saying that in a notable sense the people that surround him, and some theorists of newfangled political theory, have proposed that a sane, well administered monarchy might be, could be, better for the growth and well-being of a nation when compared to the system now existing. It is fantasy of course.

I think you have to look at Trump as a complex phenomenon and phenomena. He is a deeply psychological screen and I think he picks up on projections. His followers relate to him like a Noble and even frankly a King. They project all sorts of stuff onto him. He has been playing Cyrus for our Yiddish brethren, no? Are you aware of the deep and strange mythic undercurrents operating in the American peasantry?

Any system that is sane and well-administered would be better.

But how long would it stay sane and well-administered? Not long.

I look at Trump as an axman, in the business world sense. The person they bring in to fire people and reduce costs. Lots of cutting. But what is he cutting. Not costs, but the old way of doing things. He goes into Venezuela and says it's our oil. He makes other noises also, but basically, it's our oil. Essentially grandfathering in Putin's attack on the Ukraine. He talks about using military force in Greenland (against the Danes??). Talks about not being in Nato. He goes to war with Iran almost openly at the behest of Israel. We can look at coming economic consequences of this as mistakes, but nah. The problems with reduced oil are not side effects but key steps. He's an axman, brought in to do the dirty work, to directly contradict nearly all of his campaign promises and break the old ways of doing thing - which at such an abstract level could be a good thing, but it'll be worse. Conservatives still follow him - with daily reductions - but nearly every conservative commentator online has abandoned him. Because he's not a political entity. He's not right or left, conservative or liberal. He's transitional chaos.

He's playing Jesus and monarch to trigger people's conscious minds and their unconscious minds.

He's a destabilizing agent, a fault injection, a saboteur, the wrench in the works, he's a Trojan Horse (with conservatives being the citizens of Troy).
