WELCOME BACK!
WELCOME BACK!
Hi folks
So, as you have discovered, the Philosophy Now Forum is back online. Welcome back!
We had to take it down in early December because waves of bots were not only bringing the forum to a halt, but also doing the same to the Philosophy Now magazine website as a whole. (https://philosophynow.org). This is because the forum shared a server with the main website and the two sites were closely interlinked in various ways.
To solve this problem (or at least, to try to solve it) we have now hired space for the forum on a completely separate server. The address of the forum on the new server is https://canzookia.com but the old address (https://forum.philosophynow.org) will soon be redirecting to the new address. But please bookmark the new address.
As the forum is now on a different server from the main website, it can no longer host the "comment on articles" function. Therefore that section of the forum is now inactive and will be removed. You are still very welcome to discuss Philosophy Now articles in the other sections of the forum, naturally.
The forum will continue to evolve and we're going to reorganise a few sections. Do please tell me about any problems you encounter.

Re: WELCOME BACK!
I forgot to mention this - but at the moment there is no possibility for new users to sign up for forum accounts. This function is switched off due to a technical problem, so only existing forum members are able to post here, for now. On the plus side, this gives us a chance to sort a few things out in a relaxed atmosphere before we get inundated in waves of attempted spambot signups again!
My apologies though if you are trying to join this forum for the first time. We will fix this soon.

So it is now possible for new members to join the forum. The forum reCAPTCHA is working again so new user registration is possible again.
Re: WELCOME BACK!
At the bottom of the main page of the forum there is this...
Registered users: Baidu [Spider], Google [Bot], Semrush [Bot]
Is it possible that these bots are the ones causing the problem?
In which case, wouldn't blocking their access to the forum help resolve the issue (should it arise again)?
(Perhaps that "Spider" bot [yikes] likes to kill and eat its lover [the forum] after mating with it.
