Many thought systems conceive of dualities. But the dualities are not all the same. I would like to clarify matters by making distinction between valued and non-valued dualities.
Non-valued dualities are equal in value. Neither side is good and neither side is bad. Both are capable of both. We see this with dualities such as male and female, thinking and feeling, nature and civilization. When dealing with forces capable of both positive and negative outcomes, the solution is maximizing the positive potentials of both and minimizing the negative potentials of both.
Valued dualities are not equal in value. One side is good and the other side is bad. We see this with such dualities as good and evil, knowledge and ignorance, health and sickness. In the situation of valued dualities, the solution is minimizing the good side and minimizing the bad side.
Confusing valued and non-valued dualities is one of the worst intellectual errors that one can make. When non-valued dualities are treated as valued dualities, we see all sorts of wrong encouraged on one side of the duality while oppressing the other side even in its ability to do good. Thus, if men are seen as good and women as bad, all sorts of wrong on the part of men are encouraged, while women cannot do anything, including anything good. If thinking is seen as good and feeling as bad, we see all sorts of sophistry and abuses of reason while feelings - even the good ones - are brutally suppressed. When civilization is seen as good and nature as bad, we see destructive rapacity on the part of the civilization while nature is being blindly plundered.
Confusing valued dualities for non-valued dualities is a disaster as well. When evil is seen as equal to good, we see all sorts of villainy. When ignorance is seen as equal to knowledge, we see a dumbening of the population even as all sorts of conmen and scammers take advantage of people's ignorance to tell them a pack of lies. When sickness is seen as equal to health, we see abandonment of healthy lifestyles and a sickening of the population.
It is therefore vital to make a distinction between valued and non-valued dualities. Doing this will clean up the confusion that many people have.

Interesting thesis. Is chaos vs order a valued or a non-valued duality?
