One of Christ's most famous statements is "remove the beam from your eye before removing a splinter from your brother's."
The question I ask is, If it is in my eye, how can i see it enough to remove it?
Of course I cannot see it myself. I need mirrors. I need to see my reflection in other people's eyes.
The problem is that other people's eyes have a beam in them as well. Often what they think they see in your eyes is a function of their own convexity.
So what you need to do is place your eyes in front of many different mirrors from many different places. What they will agree upon is the beam in your eye. What they will disagree upon is the beam in theirs.
This process works to remove the beam from everyone's eyes, both your own and that of others.
