Maybe I should go back to ILP, but they changed that, sometime last year, I think, so that now all the threads, no matter how long, load in one go, rather than in pages, which makes navigation difficult. Oh well.accelafine wrote: ↑Sun Nov 30, 2025 11:18 am It's obviously not too much of a problem because people are on here.
Probably best not to complain about it because when someone tries to 'fix' it the site goes down.

I tried it a while ago but I can't make head or tail of it. And it kept giving me 'awards' for things like 'making one comment in the past year'Maia wrote: ↑Sun Nov 30, 2025 11:26 amMaybe I should go back to ILP, but they changed that, sometime last year, I think, so that now all the threads, no matter how long, load in one go, rather than in pages, which makes navigation difficult. I wasn't very impressed with what they did to it, I must admit. Which was a shame, as I'd been there for years and years, on and off.accelafine wrote: ↑Sun Nov 30, 2025 11:34 amI tried it a while ago but I can't make head or tail of it. It just seems unnecessarily complicated.

Re: I keep getting permanently banned
The permanent ban thing is odd though. With me it's definitely because of VPN. I don't need to use a VPN any more to get on here and I never get the 'banned' message now.

It has now reached a state where it seems to happen every time I try and post a reply, so it's lost, unless I copy and paste it.accelafine wrote: ↑Sun Nov 30, 2025 11:42 am The permanent ban thing is odd though. I still get flung from the site though after a few minutes. I'm wise to it now and just copy everything before clicking 'submit'.

Re: I keep getting permanently banned
I just got the banned notification on Chrome so I switched to an alternative browser and went straight through.
Re: I keep getting permanently banned
I did wonder, at first, if it was something to do with my screenreader, so I switched from JAWS to NVDA, but it made no difference, and in any case, I haven't changed any of the settings, and lots of other people are getting it too, so it can't be anything to do with that.
Re: I keep getting permanently banned
I got banned a couple times, but after the mod's temper cooled down, without a word they lifted the ban. Never had any problem with VPN or without it, for example, I was on VPN most of the day working on some vids, Kevin Kline, just to learn how he developed over the years. Now I have the VPN off.Maia wrote: ↑Sun Nov 30, 2025 12:32 pm I did wonder, at first, if it was something to do with my screenreader, so I switched from JAWS to NVDA, but it made no difference, and in any case, I haven't changed any of the settings, and lots of other people are getting it too, so it can't be anything to do with that.

Clouldflare handles a lot of traffic, which means they set timing in the milliseconds for a response time. If your browser and connection are slow, you will get a banned notice, but, it will also sometimes go away. It is timing.
How is your browser speed? etc?
If you have a lot of apps running or some particular slow apps running, it will mess up you connection timing also.
Microsoft's AI will do it.
Sometimes you can look at your task manager and see which app is clogging the line.
Use task manager to see if you have apps clogging the network line.

Re: I keep getting permanently banned
I have Microsoft Edge on my laptop, though I also occasionally use Firefox. But in either case, I access them via a screenreader, usually one called JAWS, though, as I mentioned above, I also have one called NVDA, which is free. So I can't really comment on my browser speed, as such.Phil8659 wrote: ↑Sun Nov 30, 2025 1:17 pm Clouldflare handles a lot of traffic, which means they set timing in the milliseconds for a response time. I see. Doing noting is the cure to all problems, and we should bow to the sun for taking so much effort to shine, and we have you to speak for the universe and guide us out of where ever it is your head is at. Yea, I agree, you don't take enough meds. Not trying to figure out things is the way to go because god probably does not know we exist.seeds wrote: ↑Sun Nov 30, 2025 4:01 pmI doubt that the "mods"...Phil8659 wrote: ↑Sun Nov 30, 2025 12:48 pmI got banned a couple times, but after the mod's temper cooled down, without a word they lifted the ban. I feel sooo neglected. Thank you for your brilliant slobbering. if you ever get over your personal pity party, maybe you can contribute something.
It is a good idea to check the task manager once in a while because sometimes things get put on your computer which should not be there. Which means you will have to manually uninstall something you have no need for, from someone serving themselves.
Sometimes, our machine is just too old to keep up. Every couple a years I buy a second hand Dell, on the cheap, just to run on the internet. Computers often cannot really do everything multiple interest parties load them down with. You have clean out the varmints on them once in a while.
We are all, by now, familiar with the fact that just one piece of bad code can shut the whole system down for days or longer. Our own computers are the same. Computers do not bow down and worship the sun.
