Language can only act as a pointer - words are not precisely what they label.
Light could mean light weight, light from the sun, light sleeper etc
Without proper context the word is meaningless.
Language is tricky, and can only give general direction with deep topics.
What you know leaves what you don't know and what you don't know is all there is.
Speak only for yourself, think for yourself. You’re own experience is the only truth.

The only condition of existence is Absolute.
Unconditional Love.
Unconditional Love.
Re: Who?What Is God?
I am sure, Fairy, you are trying to do philosophy but philosophy is not quite what you appear to think it is.
Western philosophy today depends a lot on scepticism. René Descartes showed this by doubting everything until he found one thing certain: that he was thinking. The TED-Ed video How do you know you exist? (James Zucker) introduces this idea. You can try it yourself by asking, “Is that tree real?” or “How do I know I’m not dreaming?” Such questions are not to confuse but to sharpen clear thinking.

Exactly!

Materialism is false. Idealism is true. But you need to discover this for yourself, don't just take my word for it.Belinda wrote: ↑Sun Sep 07, 2025 10:30 am

The real question is not whether idealism is true. The real question is: What are all the ways that idealism plays itself out? What's needed is a deep investigation into the mechanics of idealism. How does idealism work?
That's the real philosophical work.
Credit: Robert Lawrence Kuhn for articulating the definitions.
Re: Who?What Is God?
Everything is an idea. Start with that idea first.
What is an idea?
What is an idea?
Re: Who?What Is God?
That question has been addressed by a philosopher, Wittgenstein, who claims the meaning of a word is its use.
Next question, Fairy: I suggest you ask an easier question more suited to a beginner. "Does my keyboard exist physically, or is my keyboard an idea in my mind ? Or both?"
To do philosophy properly you then would support your claim with a valid argument .
Re: Who?What Is God?
Pretentious mystification: New Age gaseous nonsense. Not philosophy , don't deceive yourself into thinking it is philosophy because it isn't.
You should have learned scepticism and basic philosophy before you fell for Robert Lawrence Kuhn.
Re: Who?What Is God?
Why do you think so? You have jumped to a conclusion that is sound and fury signifying nothing. Reasoning is more impressive than New Age sound bites.Fairy wrote: ↑Sun Sep 07, 2025 10:32 amNothing is what you appear to think it is.Belinda wrote: ↑Sun Sep 07, 2025 10:30 amI am sure, Fairy, you are trying to do philosophy but philosophy is not quite what you appear to think it is.

I fall for ideas not people.
And yes, philosophy is completely nuts, it’s the bonkers of all bollocks.

It always makes me chuckle whenever NewAge is mentioned. LolBelinda wrote: ↑Sun Sep 07, 2025 12:04 pmWhy do you think so? You have jumped to a conclusion that is sound and fury signifying nothing. Never mind, each to their own. A wave never controlled the ocean, the ocean is always in complete control.
Re: Who?What Is God?
What do you mean by "in complete control"? I suspect you don' mean anything but intend to post a phrase of sound and fury because you like sound and fury and have no respect at all for reason .

Not respecting my reasoning, which is the only reasoning I have, the only reasoning I know, is disrespectful.Belinda wrote: ↑Sun Sep 07, 2025 12:17 pmWhat do you mean by "in complete control"? I have no argument with any form of reasoning B.
Like I said earlier, each to their own. You’re very entitled to your opinion, but it’s not mine, let’s just remember what side of the fence we are both positioning ourselves here.
I haven’t much time to argue with intellectual snobbery thanks all the same.
Assumption is the mother of all fuck ups. Don’t be an ass when you don’t have to.
Talk like a G, not a B
