Funny, people find "proofs" of God in an eternal universe, and they find "proofs" of God in a finite universe. The universe is either one or the other but not both at the same time. Sounds to me like some humans just want there to be a God who personally watches over them, and they'll shoehorn that belief into whatever they happen to think the universe is. Good luck. Doesn't mean an earthquake won't come along and kill you just as readily as it will an unbeliever.Janoah wrote: ↑Mon Sep 01, 2025 11:52 pmI proceed from that, the World is not created, but eternal.Gary Childress wrote: ↑Sat Aug 30, 2025 9:27 pm
If there is a God, then I think God built the giant aquarium we live in and let's things run on their own.
Without matter there is no time, therefore, to say “before the creation of matter” is absurd; there cannot be “before” without a time dimension.
The greatest Jewish authority, Maimonides, also proceeds from this assumption when proving the existence of God.
And the central Muslim philosopher and physician Avicenna also proceeds from the eternity of the World.

People invent idols for themselves so that they have something to trust. And what, by the way, are you inclined to trust?Gary Childress wrote: ↑Tue Sep 02, 2025 12:06 am Sounds to me like some humans just want there to be a God who personally watches over them,

In this world, the only one I trust is my mom. Everyone else, including God, has proven unworthy of trusting.Janoah wrote: ↑Tue Sep 02, 2025 11:10 pmPeople invent idols for themselves so that they have something to trust. So, it looks like you are a Jewish son!
So, your God is your mother, because God is the one you believe in.
Congratulations, good choice!
