Ozzy Osbourne dies
Ozzy Osbourne dies
While I've never been a fan of heavy metal, I can't help feeling proud of its origin in Birmingham, my home city, and the fact that its creators, Black Sabbath, were Brummies. And some of their early stuff was actually quite psychedelic, or at least, it clearly emerged from the same general movement, so it's no surprise, perhaps, that Black Sabbath were originally called Earth, before they adopted all the Satanic stuff, which was always tongue in cheek, of course. This was probably best exemplified by Ozzy's Mr Crowley, which exhibits no evidence that Ozzy had ever bothered reading anything by Crowley at all.
Like Crowley, though, after ingesting enough drugs and booze to kill ten men, every day of his adult life, Ozzy died tragically young, in his 70s. Ozzy died in Birmingham, surrounded by family.

He looks a lot like Kelly here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0qanF-91aJo
I loved watching The Osbournes and he seemed really old and on his last legs even then and that was twenty years ago
I'm surprised he was only 76 but I suppose he couldn't be much older than that.

Kudos to him for his second career and staying relevant, though as a fan of his first career, I chose not to participate in the second.

He's 2 day sober now...
Re: Ozzy Osbourne dies
Whenever I've heard him interviewed he seemed to have some sort of speech impediment, brought on by drugs, perhaps.accelafine wrote: ↑Wed Jul 23, 2025 11:57 am He looks a lot like Kelly here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0qanF-91aJo

I remember when someone told me he bit the head off a bat, the day after. Maybe he got a bad bite himself, on the tongue. He did have Parkinson's disease which likely affects speech, which may have been what caused his end.Maia wrote: ↑Thu Jul 24, 2025 9:52 amWhenever I've heard him interviewed he seemed to have some sort of speech impediment, brought on by drugs, perhaps.accelafine wrote: ↑Wed Jul 23, 2025 11:57 am He looks a lot like Kelly here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0qanF-91aJo

He gave a concert recently, like a week or two ago, and promoted it as his last. Good timing.
Worth $220 million, I heard. Good manager. The public approved of his work, proven by capitalism.

Yes, but I'm playing over the drummer in the song to get assistance. I've listened to this one maybe five times in my life (not a diehard sabbath fan).
At the moment, I'm roughly eight months into playing again after not playing since 2006. But i don't ever and haven't ever practiced. I don't have patience for that nonsense. I just wanna ROCK, Maia!

So in other words, NOT playing the drums--just pretending to. The actual drummer is the person who has put in the work so that he has the skills to do what he loves and impress people.

Basically, yes. But I'm hitting the same drums at the same times as these guys a whole bunch, though.

Only your word for that. It's like someone singing in the shower to Pavarotti and thinking that makes them an opera singer.promethean75 wrote: ↑Thu Jul 24, 2025 7:55 pm Basically, yes. But I'm hitting the same drums at the same times as these guys a whole bunch, though.

Being really good at anything to do with music takes a huge amount of time and hard work, full of hours and hours of repetition. That's the case even when someone has bucketloads of raw natural talent. People tend to think that rock musicians are somehow exempt from this. Not the case at all.
So put in the hours and years and you won't have to use your karaoke drum set-up.
