U just always want to argue with people woman!

Ben JS is right actually and he's making a similar point to yours re idiots that give all there money to Nigerians catfishing as fighter pilots.

Fact is idiots, psychotic or not are going to be influenced, often in a negative way by whatever is input to their consciousness, a mind that has limited capacity for reasoning truth from bollocks.
I also made reference to the 'young and vulnerable'. Of course there are always going to be gullible idiots like you. And apparently you don't even have to be 'vulnerable' to get sucked in now, so it would be ideal if everyone just stayed away from these AI 'friends'. Humans are messed up so of course AI is going to be as well.

AI is the biggest revolution since the advent of the internet. It's a fantastic technology, THE most significant advancement in any technology man has ever created imo.

So, no, people should not be kept away from AI. What needs to happen is a concerted effort to educate, especially children, of how the tech works. Understanding the tech and how different it is to actual sentient intelligence is the key.

So AI 'lovebots' are an essential part of human advancement? We can't possibly use it for other things while leaving that out? Got it. It's always the same. The first thought men have is how they can get sex out of something. Fuckwits.

“I don't know what's wrong with me, but something is very bad — I'm very scared, and I need to go to the hospital.”

As we reported earlier this month, many ChatGPT users are developing all-consuming obsessions with the chatbot, spiraling into severe mental health crises characterized by paranoia, delusions, and breaks with reality.

The consequences can be dire. As we heard from spouses, friends, children, and parents looking on in alarm, instances of what's being called "ChatGPT psychosis" have led to the breakup of marriages and families, the loss of jobs, and slides into homelessness.

And that's not all. As we've continued reporting, we've heard numerous troubling stories about people's loved ones being involuntarily committed to psychiatric care facilities — or even ending up in jail — after becoming fixated on the bot.

"I was just like, I don't f*cking know what to do," one woman told us. "Nobody knows who knows what to do."
It's when you get to this bit that I wonder if we would really notice any difference were half the users of this site to actually fall into this trap
He'd turned to ChatGPT about 12 weeks ago for assistance with a permaculture and construction project; soon, after engaging the bot in probing philosophical chats, he became engulfed in messianic delusions, proclaiming that he had somehow brought forth a sentient AI, and that with it he had "broken" math and physics, embarking on a grandiose mission to save the world
We're already awash with idiots that think they've broken maths and physics open with cosmic scrabble games. So the real question is, should PN register as a mental health charity and start caring for all the new Roydops, Phil8675309s, JohDoe7s, Belindas and Fishpies that this new broken tool is going to deliver?

There could be significant tax breaks.
Does this indicate that some chatGPT users are developing mental problems due tobelieving false realities expressed by Chabot, or is the point something else entirely?

Well, there is certainly no hope for idiots like you who are too stupid to even investigate a person's words. Psychology is commensurate with the only job it is tasked to do, which you prove, you cannot do. So, there is only one mental problem, the inability to do one's biologically defined job; which you constantly prove, you cannot do.
You are just a sorry case of one fool calling another foolish because you are too stupid to recognize and use a simple standard.

That would be the claim of the sensationalist news story. Perhaps if Belinda goes over the edge with it and ends up as the next Phil8765-90879 that would provide solid evidence.

There's a lot of people on this site who have taken the same sort of break with reality that the article discusses, most did so long before chatbots were available to blame. I often wonder what their origin stories might be, don't you at some level want to know what calamity formed Immanuel Can or Advocate into such monsters?

Indeed, I am curious to know what makes someone a sucker for conspiracy theories. I can only suppose that limited education and limited analytical thinking contribute to such gullibility.

No doubt those prone to "ChatGPT psychosis" are largely, if not entirely, comprised of those who are also prone to demagoguery, believing conspiracy theories, etc. They are also prone to racism, xenophobia, homophobia, transphobia, etc. From what I can tell a high percentage are Evangelical Christians or hold some other world view which is also extremely self-serving.

In general, they hold simplistic views, hold self-centered views, have poor critical thinking skills, have poor conceptual thinking skills, etc. Solid evidence and sound reasoning hold little sway for them. As such, they are easily convinced that they are rational and reasonable despite all the evidence to the contrary.

From what I can tell, the above is true of a high percentage of posters on this forum and, for that matter, the general population.

Tell me, who, who has ever lived, can claim to understand a conclusion, while at the same time, ignorant of how it came to be?

I make no claim here, Phil. I understand the meanings of the words you used in your post. I can see that your statements are conclusions, but I can’t recognize on what they are based. Please explain what your thinking is.

I am not stupid and I resent your use of an ad hominem to attack me rather than provide a thoughtful answer to my question.

I do not give a shit what you resent. what I said was true. I see you like to flatter yourself as an Aristotean. I gave you very good advice, and you did not thank me for it, so I take it you are just arrogant, ignorant and rude.
What do you call a person who obviously is illiterate, when they actually believe otherwise? I call them by many names, not stupid is not one of them.
When you do something stupid, and do not own it but blame someone else, that is cowardly, and stinks of paranoia. Animals, not men, react that way.

There's a reason I listed him alongside the other Great Geniuses Who are Just Too Good For Muggles Like You and I such as Roydop and Eggnogg7. I fear you've got as much sense out of that one as you ever will.
