AI danger
Re: AI danger
Ali changed men’s notions of modesty, and at the time all the stoic Babbitts on Main Street hated him for it. Drove them nuts.

Drives America haters nuts.
...what drives Americans...
(or at least those with a minimum of two working brain cells)
...nuts, is the idea that the Toddler-in-Chief and his diaper changers think that it's okay to spend an estimated 25 to 45 million dollars of taxpayer's money on some silly (third world-ish) ego parade for the dear leader's birthday, after he (only just a few weeks ago) allowed Elon (the false prophet) to fire thousands and thousands of federal workers for the sake of government "efficiency"
It's amazing how just that one missing brain cell (of the necessary two) can render a person, not only clueless, but completely susceptible to brainwashing.

Evidently there's a brain-drain happening in the U.S. which may be of benefit to other countries who provide incentives to invite them in. If this keeps happening, the perceived intelligence of the government may increase since there's less actual intelligence left for them to compare it to. What remains is in trying to decide the difference between a moron and an idiot in which the morons are the rulers and the idiots are the ruled thoroughly accepting the proclamations of the former as a good thing!

Thanks for the link. I will take a look. The quantum mechanics comment was directed to a different post from yours.accelafine wrote: ↑Sun Jun 15, 2025 12:38 pm I didn't mention quantum mechanics. But yes, I'm sceptical that it will ever be able to answer a question that has never been answered by any human and which humans are incapable of answering.
Here's someone with a different approach from the 'we're all doomed' ones.

'The promised land'.
That allows a tiny number of people to get enormously rich while the rest are paupers. Hmm, so does China, India, Russia and pretty much every other country on the planet. At least some countries distribute wealth so that everyone can access good health care and have a roof over their head. Americans don't want that because they think it's 'communisim'
'Land of the free' that isn't even very high on the global freedom index and where 'free' means every mentally ill moron can have as many guns as they like and people are 'free' to die because they can't afford health care in what is the richest country. That makes it very similar to India-- which is 7th richest. At least Indians don't go around boasting that they are 'the greatest'

- The parade was a living history lesson.
- The military needs an apology and healing after the Biden administration made it go woke and forced COVID shots on the troops.
- Military recruitment was down under Biden, but the Army hit its recruiting goals four months early this year.
- The parade was a show of strength to the world.
- It was entertaining and relatable with no swearing and no gratuitous sex, just patriotism.*
*Didn’t watch it, but it likely was not a celebration of drag queens in uniform.

Another side to the AI revolution that people don't think about. Poor African data workers are paid a pittance to 'describe the world' to enable AI to learn how to answer every imaginable question. I actually assumed that AI was skooting around the internet gobbling up information of its own accord

Scary video, thank you for exposing it. The for-profit tech "wizards" would kill us all if it means profit and market share for the tech wizards and their companies.
Re: AI danger
You cannot give rights to a tool. AI machines which are programmed by respectable people work according to ethics that are set by humans. AI machines have safeguards against uses that would damage human life. I asked two AI machines to do an imitation of Hitler talking, and each of them refused my request on ethical grounds.accelafine wrote: ↑Fri Jun 13, 2025 12:11 pm There's not much point in denying it any more. It's coming and we just have to hope it decides to 'play nice'.
The question isn't, 'Should we give it rights'; it should be, 'Do we seriously believe it's going to give 'us' rights?'
Of course it isn't. Why would it? Do we give rights to life forms that we consider 'beneath' us? Do humans give a shit about other animals?
