This idea might describe the completely uncooperative nature of the Trump administration too. It doesn't have to be smart to feel strong; it just has to disrupt and create conflict.
Your idea , Lacewing, does predict why Elon Musk regrets his divorce from Trump
What seems to be on full display is just how much the lure of the power to disrupt/destroy comes so much easier (for so many) than crafting intelligent and aware responses. Very lazy brutish actions are the pathetically primitive game plan... for which some crowds cheer!

"In the Trump administration's haste to federalize California National Guard troops to hit the streets of Los Angeles to protect ICE agents grabbing immigrants, the Pentagon has dropped the ball on providing the paperwork that would get them paid and activate their benefits. .../...soldiers are sleeping outside on cots due to a shortage of space. Others cited intermittent issues with food and fuel supplies."

The idiotic, short-sighted, and inappropriate actions being waged against human beings in a childish show of reactive 'power', are exhaustingly incomprehensible to people who actually think clearly and work hard. This is such a low level of human behavior that is evidently greater in numbers than many would have imagined. Such ignorant madness is laying waste to that which sustains us as those who have no higher aspirations or ability race toward a death wish in a show of power that fails to conceal or resolve their stupidity.

It never occurred to me before Trump, how easy it is to transform a democracy into a dictatorship. All it currently requires is a traitorous and cowardly Republican Party, a wimp Democrat Party, but most adversely, an army ever ready to obey any command of the Command-in-Chief against its own citizens. That would make the army itself complicit in the betrayal of its Constitutional mandate.

Dictators, furthermore, love their pathetic military parades. It gives them a sense of pride and power containing an indirect King-Kong kind of thrust and threat warning other nations who would challenge that power. When a country like the US joins these mutual chest-thumping competitions, it reveals itself as a nation in rapid decline no-longer subject to the Constitution which created it but to the centralized will of a single authority attempting to glorify itself.

If this process continues unimpeded, Canada itself is in serious danger of becoming the 51st state since bona fide dictatorships are by nature ever alert not simply to maintain power but eager to expand it militaristically if threats don't work. In that respect, Canada would be the greatest catch on the planet.

The soil from which all this may develop is mostly from the population itself, whose overall intelligence is usually inverse to its size and beliefs.

Yes!

And as we think back - in utter disbelief - as to how so many German people could have come under the thrall of a charismatic sociopath such as Hitler, which subsequently rendered them complicit in the atrocities of his regime,...

...we no longer have to wonder how that was possible.

I mean, just behold how many of Trump's Kool-Aid drinkers, zombie-walk right here on this very forum.

FFS. Do you want him to keep his election promises or not? Do you even know what a dictatorship is?

I agree, but I also think it's important to consider the historical context. Germany with its huge war reparations after the WWI - more a matter of revenge than justification - together with the coup de grâce of the great depression put Germany in a desperate situation on all fronts. Hitler, who actually was charismatic, well-read and well-spoken, compared to a clown like Trump, offered to restore Germany to its rightful place in Europe; we all know how that eventually concluded.

The US never had the reasons in voting for Trump as Germany had in voting for Hitler who, nevertheless, did not achieve a majority. The US in comparison, had none of the problems, and doing quite well, compared to the political, economic and social conditions going on in Germany at the time.

History has much to teach but we never learn!

Wonderful new policy plan from the brainworm fucknut:
BMJ wrote: RFK Jr threatens to stop US scientists from publishing in major medical journals

US health secretary Robert F Kennedy Jr said during a podcast interview that the Trump administration will stop government scientists from publishing their research in major medical journals “unless those journals change dramatically.”

“We’re probably going to stop publishing in the Lancet, JAMA [the Journal of the American Medical Association], New England Journal of Medicine, and those other journals because they’re all corrupt,” he told Gary Brecka of the Ultimate Human podcast.

“Unless those journals change dramatically, we are going to stop NIH [National Institutes of Health] scientists from publishing in them and we’re going to create our own journals inhouse,” he said. These are “going to become the preeminent journals, because if you get [NIH] funding, it is anointing you as a good, legitimate …

MAGA are willing to end peer review for American medical science rather than have to deal with facts they don't enjoy about conspiracy theories they have sold to millions of idiots being pure nonsense. MAGA voters are just the dumbest collection of inbred rednecks.

livescience.com wrote: RFK's proposal to let bird flu spread through poultry could set us up for a pandemic, experts warn
HHS Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and Secretary of Agriculture Brooke Rollins have expressed interest in letting H5N1 outbreaks spread unchecked through U.S. poultry farms. Health experts warn it could lead to a new pandemic.

High-ranking federal officials have suggested that bird flu virus should be left to "rip" through poultry farms across the U.S. — but experts warn that this hands-off approach could hasten the beginning of a new pandemic

Robert F. Kennedy Jr., the secretary of Health and Human Services, and Brooke Rollins, secretary of Agriculture, have floated the notion that instead of culling birds infected with the highly pathogenic H5N1 virus, farmers should let it spread through flocks. The idea is that by doing this, farmers can "identify the birds, and preserve the birds, that are immune to it," Kennedy told Fox News on March 11.

Now, a perspective piece authored by a group of virologists, veterinarians and health security experts argues that the plan would not only be ineffective, but could also increase the risk of the virus spilling over into humans and sparking a new pandemic. The researchers published their arguments July 3 in the journal Science.
Obviously Science is just another of those woke-virus publications to go on the bonfire along with that dastardly New England Journal of Medicine. Good work MAGAtards: get your next pandemic going in the same rural red-voting constituencies where your medicaid cuts will be closing all the clinics.

More genius shit from the brainworm Kennedy...
Reuters wrote: Kennedy directs CDC to study alleged harms of offshore wind farms, Bloomberg News reports.
Oct 28 (Reuters) - U.S. Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. ordered the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention staff to probe the potential harms of offshore wind farms, Bloomberg News reported on Tuesday, citing people familiar with the matter.
The move is part of a broader push by the Trump administration to scrutinize offshore wind development, which Trump himself has repeatedly criticized.

In late summer, the Department of Health and Human Services, headed by Kennedy, instructed CDC's National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health, or NIOSH, to prepare research about wind farms' impact on fishing businesses, the report said.

Kennedy has met NIOSH director John Howard about the issue and listed particular experts for Howard's team to contact, Bloomberg reported.
The report added that the office of the U.S. surgeon general has also been involved in the initiative, which the HHS, prior to the ongoing government shutdown, aimed to have completed within a couple of months.

The HHS did not immediately respond to a Reuters request for comment.
It must be quite harrowing to be an expert on public health but somehow forced to consult whichever astrologer a loon like Kennedy affirms to be the actual expert on whether wind farms cause cancer so that the tangerine dictator can be appeased.

It happened to Galileo up against the Church Authority. Galileo lost in the short term but won in the long term.

Trouble is that Kennedy , unlike the Church, is an immediate existential threat to human life.

Oh well. Good news, our American friends will no longer have protection from pesky debt collectors seeking to collect on medical debt by roasting their credit reports to make them ineligible for jobs.

So we will probably get a reboot of Breaking Bad soon.

Trump and Co won't care as they will possess Mar a Lagos aplenty with security fences and paid special military guards. And American superprisons will provide a permanent labour force to service the super rich in their Mar a Lagos. The Epstein scandal pales by comparison.

Trump and Co are plain evil. MAGAs are mental defectives who Trump should have been looking out for, instead of which Trump is using them.

USA Today wrote: Texas suing makers of Tylenol over alleged autism link
Texas AG Ken Paxton claims the makers of Tylenol failed to warn consumers about the risks of taking the drug while pregnant.

Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton announced he is suing the makers of Tylenol, claiming the companies failed to warn consumers about the risks of taking the drug while pregnant.

Paxton filed a lawsuit against pharmaceutical giant Johnson & Johnson and its spin-off company Kenvue, claiming the companies "willfully ignored and attempted to silence the science" connecting Tylenol to autism and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, violating the state's consumer protection laws.

The suit also claims Johnson & Johnson broke the law by transferring liability to Kenvue, which spun off in 2023, to shield their assets against lawsuits.

USA Today wrote: Health Secretary RFK Jr. says there's 'not sufficient' proof to show Tylenol causes autism
Robert F. Kennedy Jr., head of Health and Human Services, says Tylenol should be used with caution during pregnancy, but solid data linking it to autism is lacking.

Story Summary
  • Last month, Trump said U.S. officials would suggest limiting the use of Tylenol during pregnancy, though doctors say it is safe to use.
  • The state of Texas sued Tylenol maker Kenvue on Oct. 28, accusing it of hiding data about health risks.
  • RFK Jr. said there isn't enough data to confirm a link between Tylenol and autism, but the painkiller should still be avoided during pregnancy, if possible.
WASHINGTON ‒ Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. said on Oct. 29 that he does not have "sufficient" evidence to link Tylenol to autism, more than a month after the White House discouraged the medicine's use by pregnant women and young children.

Evidence does not show that Kenvue's pain medicine Tylenol definitively causes autism but that it should still be used cautiously, President Donald Trump's top health official told reporters. Last month, the president said U.S. health officials would recommend limiting Tylenol's use.

"The causative association… between Tylenol given in pregnancy and the perinatal periods is not sufficient to say it definitely causes autism. But it is very suggestive," Kennedy told reporters, citing animal, blood and observational studies.
