Because the American working class is so strong and so productive that these bourgeois politician clowns are able to play with their lives their money and their economy, are able to make ineffective, useless, or even directly counterproductive policies and laws, and still the gears keep turning. This country has such a surplus of power built by its working class that a politician could try to directly sabotage everything and it still wouldn't blow up. Strictly speaking, though, the capitalist isn't evil or bad or any of those other moralisms. In essence, the capitalist is an energy enslaver. Lemme explain. His effect in the world toward this end is the forcing of the laborer into his service. How. When you are born, you enter a world that is already divided up into properties (property; a legal fiction on a piece of paper) and in order to survive you have to enter into a contract with this capitalist and his government (that exists to protect his property) or face penalties (that can result in incarceration). You can not just wander off somewhere and claim a plot of land because that's somebody's property, and you'd be breaking the law. Neither can you live feely in the cities as a beggar without losing your dignity and being charged with loitering (eventually). Your only option is to sell your labor for an amount of value (money) that is less than the value of what you produce with that labor. Not only that, but the amount of time you will be obligated to labor will be excessive and unnecessary. Your wage will be so low, and commodities will be so expensive that you will have to work longer to obtain the purchasing power to have them.

That's the deal plain 'n simple. If you're okay with that, hey, that's on you. A few of us aren't, however, and once in a while, we may drop down out of the sky like Zarathustras to explain to you your situation at no charge.

It's what's called the 'ol third-party effect in economics. When you insert a seller* into a position between a producer and a consumer, you create an unnecessary unit that will burden both other units. To draw a profit, this unit must pay less to the laborer than what his labor was worth and charge the consumer more than what the product cost him to have produced. He gets em both... meanwhile doing absolutely nothing in the chain of production and economic exchange itself.

This is analogous to the behavior of a parasite. Not even figuratively speaking. Like literally. The fatigue that a viral infection causes is synonymous to the ennui, stress, and exhaustion the worker feels from all the unnecessary labor he is forced to perform to avoid going to jail or becomming a bum.

The capitalist parasite mindfucks its hosts (waitress and guy) and turns them against each other. She wants a tip. You don't wanna give one (not after eating a $14 burger). But it's worse... and here is the brilliance of the parasite. He's able to draw even more profit by justifying his paying his waitresses $2.76 per hour because they get tips. Tipping becomes a normal practice in the service industries, and everybody, disgruntled or not about it, willingly does it every day.

Think about this: what worries you the most. Of course, you are concerned about being mortal - who tf wants to be mortal - but it's not just being immortal that would wholly satisfy you. You'd be happier to be so... but you'd be happiest if you could be sure there is no tyranny and restriction in this 'immortal realm'.

You are more worried about sinning or breaking some god's law than you are about being mortal. Or rather... this 'problem' pesters you even at your happiest moments when you've almost convinced yourself that you are indeed an immortal spirit.
