Democracy is not about Rights but more about Responsibility. All feasible values relate to Society in the negative or the positive, but certain values define a society in contrast to others. If our present world were not so obsessed about rights, perhaps Gaza and Ukraine – and other places – would not be where they are today. Israel asserts its right to defend itself – defining it as a right to retaliate, and do so with all force. If NATO and the UN, had asserted the values of responsibility and even duty, over the past hundred years, and past couple of years in particular, the war may have been averted and a period of international control over Gaza and the West Bank, asserted. With a two-state solution promised. Trump and NATO should have done all possible to stop Israel retaliating, while pacifying Hamas. As matters stand, the West is merely doing enough to ensure destruction in Gaza and Ukraine – if we are not very fortunate.

Ukraine is a democracy; Russia is not. Gaza is not a democracy; Israel is. What is your assertion about rights?

Ah, a false dichotomy as good as the blind talking to the deaf-mute. Full of oughts, if onlies, hindsight, fantasy, fallacy from the get go. Democracy is about running to our shackles, choosing which injustice. It's the only right there is. Which side of the toilet to slide down.
