Do Qualia realists believe that Qualia are eternal?

Is the mind the same as the body? What is consciousness? Can machines have it?

Do Qualia realists believe that Qualia are eternal?

Post by pessimist_093 »

Qualia realists like David Chalmers believe in the existence of Qualia which they define as: instances of subjective conscious experience, possessing the properties of ineffability, exclusivity and immediate apprehensibility. Qualia realists have extensively expounded upon Qualia in papers and lectures but I am unaware of them ever having addressed the position that Qualia are eternal and I am wondering whether any of them subscribe to this position.

Why would they? I don't believe in qualia, except as coherent, justified true belief. I know them. The only way they could be eternal is in the B-theory of time; eternalism. Along with everything else.

Why, how do you ask?
