Reed and Kellogg

Post by Phil8659 »

I just uploaded 3 vols of High School Grammar Reed and Kellogg. 2 are 1900 and the other is 1906. Each has been tidied up and when needed repaired.
Each as all pages.
Wealth of information, but the most notable item, is that they get what a definition is wrong.
What they get wrong is that they point out that a definition is of the quantity and quality, but unlike Plato and Aristotle who get it right, the put quantity or quality, i.e., a definition only names one part of speech, which is wholly disprovable.

So, they did not see that quantity is a noun, and quality is a verb and that to define a thing, as Plato noted, as geometry demonstrates, the definition is the combination of both. Aristotle repeated that. So, lot of info, but it maps out why grammar has gone wrong.
