She hears the baby waking up downstairs
She hears the foghorn calling out across the sound
Repetition in the morning air
Is just too much to bear
And no one seems to care

If another day goes creeping by empty and ashamed
Like an old unwanted memory that no one will claim
The clouds with their heads on the ground
She's gonna have to come down

She said "Move me, move me
I'm locked up inside"
Well, I didn't understand her
Though God knows I tried

She said "Make me angry
But just make me cry
But no more grey mornings
I think I'd rather die"

Friends are invited to stay in my room
Ooh they won′t leave
I get your postcards from Mexico
Saying you'd be back in two weeks
One thing's for sure
When you return
I know where I won′t be

You wish I was near enough to hold
You close your eyes and say don't let me fall
And you wonder why
I gotta go

Pink Floyd's Division Bell as I walked home upriver yesterday.

Streaming YT Music before that, it knows me well. Mudford & Sons being the standard. I Will Wait For You.

Also recently, Peter Gabriel's San Jacinto, Steve Winwood's Valerie, John's Jilted John, R L Burnside's It's Bad You Know. Oh and Shostakovich's Waltz Number 2. Prokofiev inspired?

Joni Mitchell’s perspective is a gift for men who may need a bit of assistance with the enigmatic nature of women that causes head scratching.

Poignantly, it may not help at all : ) Apart from... philosophically. Which is a help. The only help ultimately.

Frankie's so desperate
He's gonna kill his wife and kid
Frankie's gonna kill his kid, hmm
Frankie picked up a gun, hmm
Pointed at the six month old kid in the crib
Oh, Frankie

Frankie looked at his wife
Shot her
Ah
Ah
Ugh, ugh
"Oh, what have I done?"

Let's hear it for Frankie
Frankie Teardrop

Frankie put the gun to his head, mmh
Uh, uh ah, hmm
And he went
Mhm, ah
Mmh, Frankie's dead

Ah, ah, mmh, ah
Ooh, Frankie, ah

Ah, ah, ah
Frankie's lying in hell
Ah, ah

Ah, ah
Ah
Come on, get up
We're all Frankies
We're all lying in hell
Come on, get up, come on
Ah, ah, ah

I saw the souls
I saw the martyrs
I heard them crying
I heard them shouting
They were dressed in white
They'd been told to wait

The sun was black
The moon was red
The stars were falling
The earth was trembling

And then a crowd
Impossible to number
Dressed in white
Carrying palms
Shouted amid
The hotless sun
The lightless moon
The windless earth
The colourless sky
They'll no more suffer from hunger
They'll no more suffer from thirst

The auctioneer said, "I'm not through yet
Here's a horse the likes of which you've never seen"
And the straw hats in the sun, with a face beneath each one
Shown doubtful, and the auctioneer got mean

"Do you think that you can find a horse like this every day?
I don't think there's any better on this earth
And the more you pay, the more it's worth"

Then out she came, a snow-white mare
Prancin' and a-dancin' in the silver sun
They watched her from behind as she did her bump and grind
Walkin' naked, sad and graceful for their fun

Oh, how I wished I could afford that lady painted white
A queen with high nobility of birth
But the more you pay, the more it's worth

My pockets hung with empty blues
Silent heels were standin' on my growin' pains
My bid was not too bad, two bits was all I had
And the stable boy just handed me the reins

Well, the gallery went wild, and the auctioneer half-smiled
"What we don't sell we shoot or give away
'Cause the more you pay, the more it's worth"

And where was the boy who rode on her back
With his arms holding tight 'round her neck?
How tightly he clung when they both were young
And fate had not let this poor girl be so
Disgraced

I park my Pontiac
Down the hill out in back
Late every afternoon
With a Coke and a cigarette
And all of the neighbors there
They see a nice old man

And the girl there across the street
She sits on her front porch swing
She never realized
What I told her with my eyes
How back in the second war
I killed twenty German boys
With my own bare hands

And the woman inside my house
She won't stop talking
She never says a thing
She just keeps talking
And I might just leave her still
After the sun goes down
And I smoke this cigarette

Running Midi on a Windows 98, with the Yamaha Synth. I like to remember how SRV2 sounds on the Yamaha. I first heard it during Windows 95, so I make virtual boxes, with programs from the past, I really do not loose original work at the time, using the original programs.
