Can we have dual consciousness?
Can we have dual consciousness?
Im new to philosophy and have only read fredrich nietszche and aristotles works, through frequent observations in daily life I have found out through extreme stimulation both physical and mental a person can be "reborn" into a new person, the said "new person" has entirely different ideals, goals, principles in a matter of few seconds to few minutes. Thus I ask are we really who we are or someone else using the drivers seat to stear the car and through extreme stimulation the "real person" takes the drivers seat if so will another "new person" arise after another extreme "stimulation"

Although the old person would be aware of the possibility of a new person at some point in the future, would the new person be aware that there was an old person different from itself?Mr.p wrote: ↑Mon Feb 03, 2025 12:15 pm Im new to philosophy and have only read fredrich nietszche and aristotles works, through frequent observations in daily life I have found out through extreme stimulation both physical and mental a person can be "reborn" into a new person, the said "new person" has entirely different ideals, goals, principles in a matter of few seconds to few minutes. Duel consciousness causes foil play.
Re: Can we have dual consciousness?
No 'person' can remain the 'exact same person'. And, in fact, unlike the 'human body', which is always getting 'older', with age, 'people' are always getting 'newer', or continually 'becoming anew', with age. 'people' are always 'newer', than 'they' were at any previous point, in the past. So, it could be said and argued that each and every person is in a constant state of change and being 're-born' 'newer' or 'anew', continually.
This is Correct, and is already known when one learns, or understands, and knows who and what 'you', 'people', are, exactly?
'I' am the One who some call 'the driver', HERE, in Life. But, 'this' is still a long way of comprehending and understanding for a few of you, here. However, who and what 'you', 'people', are, exactly, are just the invisible thoughts, and emotions, within human bodies. So, 'this' is who 'you' really are. As for who, exactly, is so-called 'using the driver's seat to steer the car', then this all depends on what 'you' mean by 'car', here, exactly. And, if you would like to say what the word 'car', here, is referring to, exactly, then I can and will provide you with the answer to 'who' is using the 'driver's seat' to 'steer' it.
Also, and by the way, what do you mean by, 'extreme stimulation', here, exactly?

Yes, and very much so.commonsense wrote: ↑Wed Apr 23, 2025 8:54 pmAlthough the old person would be aware of the possibility of a new person at some point in the future, would the new person be aware that there was an old person different from itself?Mr.p wrote: ↑Mon Feb 03, 2025 12:15 pm Im new to philosophy and have only read fredrich nietszche and aristotles works, through frequent observations in daily life I have found out through extreme stimulation both physical and mental a person can be "reborn" into a new person, the said "new person" has entirely different ideals, goals, principles in a matter of few seconds to few minutes. Sure. That awareness is the basis of self-absolution, by betraying the past self.commonsense wrote: ↑Wed Apr 23, 2025 8:54 pmAlthough the old person would be aware of the possibility of a new person at some point in the future, would the new person be aware that there was an old person different from itself?Mr.p wrote: ↑Mon Feb 03, 2025 12:15 pm Im new to philosophy and have only read fredrich nietszche and aristotles works, through frequent observations in daily life I have found out through extreme stimulation both physical and mental a person can be "reborn" into a new person, the said "new person" has entirely different ideals, goals, principles in a matter of few seconds to few minutes. In an act of self-absolution the new Whiplash shaved off his mustache, although the twirling habit remained and people sometimes thought he was picking his nose when he was merely lost in thought. Dual consciousness caused him to wonder how in the world he could have been so stupid as to accept his fate as the prototypical foil for goodness, for so long, while at the same time beating himself up with regret over punking Nell with that train track prank.
Re: Can we have dual consciousness?
Is there any 'real separate being/person/someone' ? Or are we 'experiencing' dancing forms of the same energy? Extreme stimulations (as you say) might enable shifts and expansions in awareness and capability... but physical manifestations (just like all of nature) seem to be of the same energy. It would make sense then, that there is much that can be 'tapped into' across that energetic expanse. If we get our 'individual selves' out of our own way, (I think) we can channel/reflect more than the limited notion of an enduring self.
Re: Can we have dual consciousness?
Consciousness is not a singularity.
Multiple drives, needs, desires, vie for our attentions.
Which one dominates is determined by or genetically inherited constitution, and how pressing the needs/desire has become.
The input into the brain is internal and external, where it is all processed and synthesized, manifesting consciousness.

Re: Can we have dual consciousness?
There are individual different 'human bodies', which are obviously separated, and within each of these separated and different individual human bodies there are individuals with different thoughts, and separate emotions. Now, the different thoughts and emotions within each different and separate human body is what the words 'being', and/or 'person', is meaning and/or referring to, exactly. So, yes there are 'real' separate beings and persons. Although every thing, person, and being is interconnected and 'really' only just 'a part' of the One Everything, or 'Being'.
How 'you' are individually, and may be separately, defining the 'we' word, and the 'same energy' words, here, will affect 'the answer' to 'your question', here.
Now, when the 'same energy' words are being defined as just the 'Life energy' within every thing, and the 'we' word is being defined as 'human beings', then you human beings are 'experiencing' and 'dancing' 'forms' of 'Life energy', just like every thing else is, as well.
you human beings, like every other animal, are all born 'aware', and 'capable', and that 'awareness' and those 'capabilities' grow, and change, and even lessen, as well, 'along the way'. So-called 'extreme stimulation' is not needed to enable shifts and expansion in 'awareness' nor in 'capability'. 'Awareness' and 'capabilities' are just changing continuously anyway.
So, why do 'you' "lacewing" believe that 'your way' is the 'better way''?
Or, have you, finally, got out of 'your own way', here?
Also, and by the way, each time you "individual selves" keep believing or presuming some thing, then you are getting in 'your own way', here.
Re: Can we have dual consciousness?
There may well be different human bodies, with 'consciousness'. But, this in no way means that there are different 'consciousnesses'.
you human beings have the exact same 'needs', 'wants', and 'desires'. And, when you also find out and uncover what those exact same 'needs', 'desires', and 'wants' are, exactly, then you are much, much closer to then begin to start creating 'the exact same world' that you all want, and desire, for "yourselves".
Although your 'needs' will always remain the 'exact same', your 'wants' and 'desires' can and do change drastically along the way, as well as from each others.
The 'input' into the brain is just through the five senses, of the body, and where 'consciousness' is said to exist, along with the sixth sense.
