I wish that for just one time you could stand inside my shoes
And just for that one moment I could be you
Yes, I wish that for just one time you could stand inside my shoes
You'd know what a drag it is to see you
Positively 4th Street cover

Re: What music are you listening to?
My friend said, "Was he always like that?"
I said, "Yeah, but he was never this bad"
And I remember us playing for nickels and dimes
Out on the corner
I asked him to marry me once
He told me he couldn't because
This would be all that there was
He said I read the Bible every day
Trying to keep the demons at bay
Thank God when the sun goes down
I don't blow away

Re: What music are you listening to?
I was 17 when I quit school
The year that I enlisted
I don’t recall just why I did
My mom says I insisted
I had some strange idea then
That Uncle Sam was right
Momma cried, she signed the card
And I went off to fight
But I just found out this morning
The doctor told me so
They killed me in Vietnam
And I didn’t even know
Got off the plane in Vietnam
It didn’t look like war
With all I saw I started wonderin’
What we came there for
Some officers got drunk at night
And cheated on their wives
While those peasants on the other side
Were fightin’ for their lives
You know the army tried some fancy stuff
To bring them to their knees
Like Agent Orange defoliants
To clear the brush and trees
They fly all day above the trails
Through clouds of poison spray
But they never said that chemicals
Would hurt our health today
But I got the news this morning
The doctor told me so
They killed me in Vietnam
And I didn’t even know
Well I tried hard to forget
That war like everybody else did
I settled down, got married
And I even had some kids
Our children both had birth defects
The doctors had their doubts
They never said what caused it
But I think I just found out
Because I just found out this morning
Yeah, the doctor told me so
They killed me in Vietnam
And I didn’t even know
The doctor says I have some time
He was trying to be kind
Your know I’ve never been a radical
But this has changed my mind
I’d be so proud to hear my son say:
"Hell no we won’t go
Because you killed our dad in Vietnam
And he didn’t even know"
This Agent Orange from Vietnam
We carry with us still
Stays inside for years and years
It does its best to kill
You might get cancer of the liver
You might get cancer of the skin
You might get a VA disability
You might not live to win
Because I got the news this morning
The doctor told me so
They killed me in Vietnam
And I didn’t even know

Re: What music are you listening to?
There's no way out of here
When you come in
You're in for good
There are no answers here
When you look out
You don't see in
There was no promise made
The part you played
The chance you took
There are no boundaries set
The time and yet
You waste it still
So it slips through your hands
Like grains of sand
You watch it go
There's no time to be lost
You'll pay the cost
So get it right

Re: What music are you listening to?
You need to take a good look at yourself
And see if you're the kind of person God wants you to be
It's no big thing, it's a small thing
What people think
There's no escape from Him
He's so high, you can't get over Him
He's so low, you can't get under Him
He's so wide, you can't get around Him
If you make your bed in Heaven, He's there
If you make your bed in Hell, He's there
He's everywhere

Youth has gone
I heard you say
It doesn't matter anyway
Don't hide the photos
Or turn off the lights
I'm quite sure we've both seen
Funnier sights
Youth
Sleep in a deep deep sleep
Beauty is skin deep
soft cell
youth

Re: What music are you listening to?
By far worse is the Hamburger Lady
We must heal them for the qualified technicians
Worse
Alternating nights unrelievedly
She's lying there
Hamburger Lady
Hamburger Lady
She's dying, she is burned from the waist up
On her arm
Her ear is burned, her nose is burned
Her eyelashes and her fingers are burned
She can't hold anything up
And the medical advances
There's no end in sight
For Hamburger Lady
When somebody tells you that there is a level of pain beyond which the human mind
Beyond which is the level of pain of the lady on the potty chair
Unrelievedly
She's burned from the waist down
That's what keeps her alive; the tubes
And the nice nurses
Hamburger Lady
Hamburger Lady
She's okay, if you change the tubes
Tubes in her legs, the tubes in her arms
Then the medic came and when he came out and saw one of the burn nurses at the desk
He was eating a can of chili-mac
And he flashed on the carpet, flashed on the floor
The Hamburger Lady
Stretch since she came to us
Unrelievedly
The qualified technicians
Hamburger Lady
Hamburger Lady
Two minutes every three weeks and two minutes everyday
Things around seep in pain, knowing pain
Propping in the potty chair, keeps her kneeled down
Qualified technicians
Keeps her alive
throbbing gristle
Hamburger lady

Round and round we go
Where we come from no one knows
Time spins the karmic wheel
Endless secrets waiting to reveal
Inside where no one hears
Silent hours take away the years
Ticking seconds slowly fade away
Come tomorrow to be yesterday
