Truth Story:

I converse with our dog. She sits and listens as I explain cause and effect. She turns her head slightly as if listening to the sky. As I bark to her at times, she barks to me at times. Sometimes she comes to me for various reasons, not many, but I don’t always react to her communications, however she always does try to talk. She talks and sometimes I don’t hear the message.

She has a nifty way of training me, one that I endeavour to correct without corporeal punishment, seeing as how awareness has been commissioned by ahimsa. I explain to her intellectually that she can’t crap on the sun porch ever again. She always listens to me and I noticed early on that when I listen to her, she doesn’t do that. My intent has become her intent and the price of ahimsa is to be her servant, which is more enlightening than to be her master. The result is effective action that makes both of us happy. We both learn. My action is based on connecting the dots that intrude upon my mission in life at the time, in order to hear what she has to say. This is how parents become servants to their children, which is why they say we should live life in reverse and be wise at the beginning.
