Monster movie, Daddy Warbucks up against Bobby Fuller
And he beat him hands down
Lead in the head
Put a little lead in his head.
I fought the war but the war won stop for the love of God.
I fought the war but the war won

Happy birthday, happy birthday
How old are you, how old are you?
I'm 32 and I have to lose 20 pounds to be attractive, to be the kind of person I want. this is the year I'm gonna do it
Have you ever promised yourself that before?
How did you know? I've been on and off diets since I was 18
So, you've been making and breaking the same resolution for more than a decade?
Well, if you want to put it that way
Let's face facts. your approach doesn't seem to be working

[chorus]
No matter how hard you struggle and strive
You never get outta those shoes alive
Nowhere to run, nowhere to hide
All you gonna get is a ticket to ride
Happy birthday, happy birthday
How old are you, how old are you?

I'm 47 years old and still don't know how to assert myself and get what I want. I just never learned to be aggressive
You can get ahead by cooperating as well as competing
The hell you can. it's a jungle out there. kill or be killed
Lack of assertiveness can be a problem. it does not seem to be yours
Look, Mr. Good Vibes. I know what my problem is. I've had it my whole life
I understand perfectly

I'm 23 years old and all my friends tell me I'm talented. I wanna be a really big television or recording star
Do you go out on auditions?
How can i? who's gonna look after my kid?
Can you hire a mother's helper?
Can't afford it
How about a relative or a neighbor?
Oh, I just wouldn't feel right asking
Perhaps you expect a producer to drive up in a limousine and discover you at the local drugstore?
Well, it has happened before
Frankly, my dear, this is nothing but fantasy

Your birthday is a good time to take a look at yourself. be ruthlessly honest. are you a person who gets things done, or a procrastinator? can you control your habits? do you see yourself objectively or do you require a myth? if you think you're fooling anyone, you're only fooling yourself Now, sir, how old did you say you are today?

I just turned 40 and for the last few months I've been feeling like it's all over, as though life had already passed me by. It feels like I'm dying
That's right. you are dying
What do you mean by that?
The fact is, even as we talk your allotted time is slipping away. more of your life is behind you and that means that less is in front of you
That's a pretty depressing way to wish a guy happy birthday
Look at it this way, friend. you may be dying, but you still have some time left, so let's sit down and take stock of where you've been and where you're heading. life will always appear too short. only you can make it worthwhile

Doctor Parkinson declared, "I'm not surprised to see you here
You've got smokers cough from smoking, brewer's droop from drinking beer
I don't know how you came to get the Bette Davis knees
But worst of all young man, you've got industrial disease"
He wrote me a prescription, he said, "You are depressed
But I'm glad you came to see me to get this off your chest
Come back and see me later, next patient, please
Send in another victim of industrial disease"

Now, I go down to Speaker's Corner, I'm thunderstruck
They got free speech tourists, police in trucks
Two men say they're Jesus, one of them must be wrong
There's a protest singer, he's singing a protest song
He says, "They wanna have a war, keep their factories
They wanna have a war to keep us on our knees
They wanna have a war to stop us buying Japanese
They wanna have a war to stop industrial disease

"While there isn't a song specifically that includes quotes from Jimmy Swaggart in the lyrics, it's common for gospel artists to draw inspiration from his teachings and ministry, often incorporating themes and phrases from his sermons into their music." AI

Actually this isn't true at all. There is a song that includes quotes from Jimmy Swaggart. I have it on my cassettes. Swaggart's sermon quotes are interspersed with people noting all the many things that can make living in this world an ordeal. For example: "...locked up for 24 hours and I never done anything wrong except get AIDS...I guess that's a crime now".

Swaggart: "And the Bible says God is angry. He's angry with dictators. He's angry with despots. He's angry with poverty. He's angry with hunger. He's tired of it. You tell them I'm coming back. I'm coming back. I'm coming back."

Just not quite angry enough, I guess.

Reminds me of the song Paul Simon wrote -- https://youtu.be/JkJlmYwMgRM?si=01gHx6PyC4d5ty1t -- only a lot edgier.

Unfortunately, I am unable to post it here because I can't find it on YouTube...or anywhere else.

Anyone here familiar with it?

Four in the morning
And the water is pourin' down
Stove don't work
And my baby has just left town
I'm lyin' on my back
'Cause there just ain't nothin' to drink
Empty bottles on the floor
And dirty dishes in the sink

Nothin' to drink
And the sun ain't gonna shine
I left my baby
'Cause she just wouldn't stop lying
Well, I saw my baby
And she took back all that she said
It don't make no difference, now
'Cause I shot them both in bed

I'm watchin' a cockroach
Crawlin' in an old bean can
He says, "Now, when you're baby's left you
I bet it's tough to be a man, yeah, a man"
Four in the morning
And the water is pourin' down

Dead Kennedys - Forward To Death
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kxg7kNC82oo

I don't need your way of life
I can't stand your attitudes
I can do without your strife
I don't need this fucking world
I don't need this fucking world
This world brings me down
Gag with every breath
This world brings me down
I'm looking forward to death
It seems so unreal to me
So much hate and so much pity
I can't take another day
It's such a bore
It gets me really sore
I don't need this fucking world
I don't need this fucking world
This world brings me down
Gag with every breath
This world brings me down
I'm looking forward to death
Looking forward to death
Looking forward to death

You and me we keep walking around and we see
All the bullshit around us
You try and keep your mind on what's going down
Can't help but see the rhinoceros around us

Someone stood at a window and cried one tear
I thought that would stop a war
But someone is killing me

I took a walk down by the sea
And I listened to her strength
And I saw how tall I was
Realized how small I was
And I wonder...
Why the world should care for me?

I looked up into the swirling sky
Saw the clouds go rushing by
Realized how slow I was
And I saw how low I was
And I wondered...
Why the sun should shine for me?

Now who shot his arrow?
How high did it fly?
When he tipped it with poison
Did he even know why?
What unseen hand
Brought him face to face to face to face with
All this and more
In a pagan place?

I said, "Do you wish me dead?"
Lip service to books you've read
Articles on how to bed a bird in flight
You called it love
I called it greed
You say, "You take what you want"
I said, "You get what you need"

I let their promises bind me
I let seductive logic blind me
I embraced a machine, I went through the routine
And I hid from the people who were trying to find me

I let their wanton flesh obsess me
I felt their dreams and drugs assess me
I was hired and fired yet never inspired
Flattering, chattering words to impress me
All that glittered had me mesmerized
