A Possible Explanation to the Phenomenon of "Telepathy"

How does science work? And what's all this about quantum mechanics?

Especially trapped in a room with someone trying to prove the veracity of telepathy

I myself have not once attempted to prove its veracity here.

Here, here! Excellent sentiment.

Yes, we are ultimately quite boring creatures. 90% of our existence is wrapped up in an endless chant of "I, me, me, mine", "I, me, me, mine", "I, me, me, mine", "I, me, me, mine", "I, me, me, mine", "I, me, me, mine", "I, me, me, mine". With thanks to George Harrison.

It's a fun game for awhile, but forever? Yikes.

Just a note, people. There is indeed a common explanation in physics that can be used in this relation and it's called Twin Spin. I don't know where it's from or what evidence/experiments that are underlying this term. You can search a little too if you want.

I think it goes: let's say a person somehow sends one's thoughts through the air/space (by particles/photons or such) and these carry with them "signals" that are transferred to particles such that telepathy obtains and these particles display thus this "twin spin"! Good?

I hope you like this little addition. I must say that "twin spin" has been out in the world of physics for quite a while now (10 -15 year?) and that I'm not attempting to write something new. "Twin Spin" is not my invention!

Cheers! :)

You sure you're using the correct terminology? "Twin spin" doesn't show anything in Google or Wiki.

In theory I suppose telepathy could be exist. We could all be emitting some sort of transmission that some people can receive, much like a radio receiver. That's in theory. In practice no one has identified any such mechanism that would enable this to work and no one has been able to actually demonstrate telepathy successfully. Given those circumstances it seems reasonable to say that there is no basis to believe that telepathy exists. Maybe if there was some evidence there would be reason to consider it as more than wishful thinking mumbo-jumbo.

Not exactly sure where this fits in, but there are interesting experiments underway that allow disabled people to control various devices with their thoughts. I've seen a number of shows on TV about it, but regret I can not link to site about it.

Although the technology is new, it does seem to work on a basic level, as best I can tell. So, if this is correct, we are already capable of thought to device "telepathy".

Although telepathy may not be built in to the human mind, perhaps the ability to create a telepathic function is.

Have you ever heard of the phrase; "a solution looking for a problem"?
You have presented and explanation looking for a phenomenon.
Telepathy has never been demonstrated. That's it . Case closed.

Much worse than what? You're dead!
I suppose it depends upon what is meant by 'living forever'? How about be able to live forever but still being vulnerable to death by violence or misadventure. So if you did get bored then you could end it all, that doesn't sound boring.

Titonos, the boyfriend of Eos, was made immortal by Zeus but he became older and older.
Eos had forgotten to ask Zeus to give him eternal youth too.
So she was crying about this tragedy and had to go again to Zeus and to ask him to let Titonos die.

I hope to become an immortal spirit after I die.
Then I am going to talk to all other spirits of the times long gone and of our times.
As a spirit you have no worries concerning the body: no over-eating, no migraines, no danger of cancer etc.
It´s something to look forward to, I would say.

Its case closed for physical evidence of telepathy, but since when was philosophy determined by the bounds of physical science?

Much worse than what? You're dead!So what! There are much worse things than me being dead, such as there being no life at all. What deplores me so much about the thought of living forever is that there is no way to think about or imagine the state. You just end up muddled and confused. At least death can be seen as a simple fact.

You're talking reincarnation here, another kettle of fish altogether... but it could help complement that potato.

Spirits are invisible and don't have mouths and ears - that's what they tried teaching me at Sunday school anyway. But when you talk of chatting with all other spirits of the times, many of whom you will find boring, that's a very limited activity as far as infinite time goes. Its doesn't even represent a millisecond, and if you decide to go and chat with them all again to fill in time, neither would that represent even a millisecond of infinite being. So you would quickly get bored with any activity whatsoever - from the perspective of infinite time.

Even if spirits did have things like mouths and were able to eat to their hearts content, they'd have awful big shits that they couldn't evacuate, because there are not likely to be assholes allowed in heaven..

Irrelevant

A claim for a phenomenon, demands demonstrability.
A claim for an extraordinary ability can only be distinguished by an incident of replication.

This has bigger all to do with the bounds of philosophy.

When it gave up metaphysics because a bunch of metaphysicians made their case indubitably.
