No Humor Threads?!

Post by Wizard22 »

I feel like this whenever I invade this Bri'ish Philosophy Forum:

After one of the most prolific rises of Industry and Imperialism, it now occurs to me, that the British-Anglo Islander peoples, yet know more of the world's Oceans than they do of the world's Nations. There is a strange depth to Anglo Islander 'innocence' and ignorance of outsiders. It certainly is not of a Græco-Roman nature or significance. It is not Extroverted in the slightest. But in its youthful and idyllic nature, there is still a great value.

There doesn't need to be any humor threads because I'm here.

You aren't funny. You are too obnoxious to be funny. X is full of hilarious people. It's quite humbling to see how funny people are on there, and not famous ones either.

Well, the elements of the humor are often more complex and embedded in the context. For example, the fact that you find me too obnoxious to be funny becomes a funny fact if the obnoxious behavior is contrived. When being obnoxious, I'm playing the guy who thinks he's funny but really isn't. All that's on purpose. Those in the audience who share this secret with the protagonist find the fact that the rest of the audience doesn't know this - they think he thinks he's funny - to be very funny at the victim's expense (yours in this case).

You have actually unwittingly become my stage assistant.

You seem to miss the purpose of humour. I didn't say you are stupid--just a wanker.

I believe my sfottò, a form of buffoonery i engage in, would be considered Juvenalian satire. Horatian satire is much less edgy and less appropriate for a disreputable protagonist like myself. I literally fit the script of a Diogenes, except I'm not broke all the time like D was... so the general farce comedy I'm involved in has to be shocking, cynical and with a lot of pathos. And there's great material available here for creating a complex and confusing antihero type character to make the buffoonery even better; he's intelligent, talented, empathetic, hard working... but he's also shady af, a drug user, a sex offender, sounds like a fuckin sociopath sometimes with the stuff he says, etc.

I believe these multifaceted character qualities give me a greater range to work with when engaging my audience.

Whatever. All I see is someone who is completely self-centred and doesn't give a thought to what others might think or feel (unless there's something in it for him).

There are a few interesting 'layered' characters on here. Henry is the first that springs to mind, or at least until he got in the thrall of IC. Shame that.
