"this year i didn't do anything but drive around looking for somewhere open to eat. not a single 'merry christmas!' passed through my lips. no trees or nativity scenes of something that probably never happened. no turtle neck sweaters. no eggnog. i gave no presents and got nuthin from nobody... becuz i got nobody.

i walk the street at night and pass a brightly lit house. through the window i see a family gathering around the dinner table. i can hear them laughing. the joyful banter of holiday cheer. after a brief prayer, they begin to pass the food around. sausage cheese balls. i love sausage cheese balls. i sit down on the curb and pretend to be with them. i can taste the greenbean casserole. it's delicious. i smile and crack a joke to uncle dave; hey dave, take it easy on the turkey, big guy. u know what they say... u are what u eat. he lightly punches me in the arm as everyone laughs at my lame joke. sinatra's christmas is playing now. what a great song i think, gazing up at the stars in the winter sky. that one there! look dave, that's the star that led the wisemen to the manger. yeah, he says looking up. it sure is, prom. it sure is.

then, out of nowhere, a car zooms by and hits a pot hole in front of me. a giant wave of mud water smashes me right in the face, breaking me out of my reverie. well how do u like that. guess i better be gettin home now. 'goodbye everyone' i whisper, wiping the mud water from my face, 'and merry Christmas'."

A least you didn't get jumped by 5 idiots that wanted to beat the crap out of you -- (I have no idea how I didn't literally get the shit kicked out of me, sore ankle and knee is all.) And then had to cancel Christmas lunch for a disabled ol' fella cos you can't wheel him to your house with a sprained ankle. Spent the day alone, watching TV and wondering whether my sister was going to phone and tell me Dad is dead - he's in a bad way but hates me, so mmm.
Now, I gotta hobble up the shops because me and the ol fella are doing lunch tomorrow now and his next door neighbour is coming, another ol fella - and boy, has that dude had some bad karma throughout life. Should have been a millionaire but now lives in a tiny little council unit!

The people I feel for are children who get nothing from their worthless parents, or some piece of crap from the 'dollar shop' because their parents needed their money for alcohol and drugs. Imagine how they feel with all the hype and all the children around them getting excited about all the presents they will be getting. Stuff the old farts. I bet they hate getting wheeled out for brownie points.
