They're accountable to their overlords, and not at all to the people. That's a form of "accountability" alright. But it's useless, for any democratic purpose. Very nice for totalitarians, of course. They like to keep their people "accountable" to them.

No, actually, he has not. He's been part of a process, and even a pseudo-democratic exercise; but not a democratic process. And his "part" in it consists in nothing democratically useful.

To be, in any genuine sense, "democratic," Bob would have to have a direct means to vote for, influence and/or remove the person who is making the decisions that affect him. But that person sits on the Commission, not the Parliament. And that person answers to the whole bundle of the EU autocrats, not to the UK, and certainly not to Bob.
