Re: Pagan morality
"From what I've gathered she has an amazing full life. Travelling the world and doing all kinds of interesting things."
Nah, it doesn't happen enough, see. The 40 hr work week and lack of vacation days make otherwise ordinary outings and social events fewer are farer between. Wait, is 'farer' even a word? My spell check seems to have no issues with it. Or does it think a farer is someone who fares?
So what I'm saying is it should be no big deal to go to a park or local historic location or even to move about the city and do stuff. Now i don't KNOW she isn't doing this frequently enough, but I'm going to assume she isn't and that to be able to do so would require her to have an escort at all or most times. So unless she has a very close friend or mate or family member willing to buddy up with her on her outings, she'd have to click 'n stick her way through town with literally no end in sight and that ruins the whole point of getting out. It's not supposed to be work. It's supposed to be carefree and fun.

FFS. It's none of your business anyway. Why would she be any less capable than anyone else, or less able to cope with arsehole males? (every woman has encountered those)

"FFS. It's none of your business anyway."
Sure it is. Much of her posting involves reports of these things, what she's doing or has done. Work related or otherwise.
What isn't my business is what she doesn't talk about.
"Why would she be any less capable than anyone else, or less able to cope with arsehole males? (every woman has encountered those)"
How much you wanna bet I'm right? G'head, Maia, tell her what it's really like livin the life! And don't say you are perfectly capable and hate it when people think of you as handicapped and all that. We know you can (unless it involves piloting a space shuttle). That's not the problem. The problem is that it is an enormous pain in the ass for someone like you to get the chance to do something meant to be enjoyed... even little trivial joys sighted people take for granted are difficult to find. You'd like an espresso and an avacado sandwich but it takes an act of congress to make it to the cafe without getting run over or mugged.
Tell this woman, Maia! It ain't no goddamn simple walk in the park when it should be!

Óh, I think getting it out up front still leaves room for all the undercurrent crap.promethean75 wrote: ↑Sat Dec 07, 2024 9:05 am "It's great you can admit that you are stirred. Poor Iamb cannot manage to admit this."
My philosophy is that when a philosophy hottie is at a forum, the male philosophers should immediately begin flirting with her so they can all get that out of the way. If they don't, all exchanges with the philosophy hottie will be baised with overly courteous behavior designed to win her affections, and philosophers can't afford to do that. We have to remain objective and resist the lure of the sirens lest we crash into a fuckin rock or bottom the boat out. That being the case, male philosophers should step forward and announce in no uncertain terms that, indeed, they are taken by the beauty and grace of the philosophy hottie and that if there is going to be any serious discourse, this must be known in advance. The philosophy hottie then establishes her boundaries. Everybody shakes hands, and the company proceeds from there.
Imagine debating with Astro Cat while she's staring at you in that pic like she's about to rip off her shirt, break out a leather whip, and put some Norwegian djent on. If you think there is even the slightest chance you could be attractive to this... machine, everything you say to her is going to have an ulterior purpose of either impressing her or complimenting her. Only after you've discovered you have no chance can you let her have it in debate and go ham on her if you need to.
That said, what topics did you manage to be philosophical with after flirting with the hottie?
And I think iamb doesn't quite buy your advice.

Who, the Astro Cat hottie? Shit man i couldn't argue with the girl because i agreed with the two things she was on about. The non-cognitivism and the gratuitous suffering (from the problem of evil deal). The feminism stuff has historical affiliations with your boy Karl's ideas, so i was good with that too.
But really, man, I'm not sure I'm sure she was real. So i wouldn't take her too seriously even if i didn't agree with her positions.

Right. Ayn Rand. The philosopher -- or "philosopher" as some insist -- who championed the rights of individuals, while demanding that all of these individuals had better think exactly as she does about, well, everything...or risk being excommunicated from the church that she founded herself: Objectivism.Walker wrote: ↑Sat Dec 07, 2024 10:13 am I recently noticed an affinity with Ayn Rand in the world and on the forum, so I took the bother to quote a whole page of her insights, as a commentary on both what’s happening now, and also the Spirit of Individualism which is becoming more of an ideal in corporate-think. However, Individualism is a fundamental value in the fabric of the United States, seeing as how it was woven during frontier times when self-reliance was a virtue.
Note to others:
Any Objectivists here? How about we create a new thread to discuss her own philosophy. In particular, the part where morality itself is argued to be no less a metaphysical component of the human condition.

Re: Pagan morality
What exactly do you mean by 'real' anyway? The only criteria for being 'real' on here is a username and words on a screen. The only thing that counts as 'not real' is when an account is a bot. I just find it bizarre when people online talk about accounts that 'aren't real'. What does it even mean?promethean75 wrote: ↑Sat Dec 07, 2024 9:32 pm Who, the Astro Cat hottie? According to you, I'm not 'real' because YOU have decided that some other account is 'me', and that the 'other' account is real. You even make assumptions about my age and how 'ugly' you consider me to be. Who the fuck do you think you are? I am accelefine in the context of this forum. That's all you need to know.
You appear to believe you are owed photos and credible life stories from the women on here, frequently trying to goad it out of them.
I couldn't give a flying bat's butthole who the 'real' people are behind the words. What matters to me is what they write on the screen in front of me.
You think you are entitled to wank material from any 'females' who happen to post on here-- which is ridiculous in itself, because there's no way of knowing for certain whether anyone on here is male or female.
Your sense of male entitlement is off the charts. You even believe that random schoolgirls owe you sexual gratification, calling them 'ugly' and 'fat' when they call you out.
You truly are a disgusting little man.

I mean they may not be the person appearing in the photo, Einstein. What, did you think i meant 'not real' in some quantum zen metaphysical sense? Do i look like the fuckin bishop berkeley to you, pal? Of course they are real. There's gotta be somebody behind that keyboard.
Alls I'm sayin is if I'm looking at a philosophy hottie when I'm reading her post, then gosh darnit I want the person behind that keyboard to be that hottie in the pic. Is that too much to ask?

Not at all. You two stand out as the forum sleazebags. Prom is the worst by far of course. The other 'men' on here seem fairly decent and 'moral' for the most part. Perhaps they are all gay (or women)

No they're just old. They've got nothing left in em. Married, divorced, round of kids a few of em, some retired. Old folks don't go lookin for love on internet philosophy forums on account of that I don't reckon.
....
And we don't wank off to forum pics either. This isn't 1985 sneak into your dad's room and look at his playboys days anymore. Soft core is as useless as watching the weather forecast when you're trying to get one off. These forums pictures are in no danger. Tell her, boys. Fishpie, you're not one of those guys who gets a hard-on when he's flipping through a Belk's catalog, are you? I don't know how those guys do it. I'd have to really work on getting a boner looking at a girl in a pair of slacks and a blouse.

Jesus, just because I talk to prom in a fairly social manner you now call me a sleazebag. I have never ever been called that before.accelafine wrote: ↑Sat Dec 07, 2024 11:33 pm Not at all. It's akin to idiots calling me racist. C'mon then, what have I stated that renders me a sleazebag?
