I cannot speak for UK but here in the USA crazed Islamic preachers calling for Sharia and ranting about The Jews are not that different from crazy guys yelling gibberish at traffic - and about as dangerous. Not exactly harmless but basically irrelevant.
A white Christian going on about how Haitians steal cats and dogs to eat - no less hateful than the craziest Sharia preacher - actually can have substantial influence outside a small group of crazies and have actual political power - so I am far more worried about crazed Christians than crazed Muslims.

I am not in favor of illegal immigration.
It seems to be difficult in practical terms, however, for countries like Britain to reestablish proper control over their border situation.
At least three or four predecessors of the current prime minister, Keir Starmer, had already promised to work on the problem. None of them have managed to make a dent.
Concerning giving refuge, it is a question of applying existing rules or looking into how these rules need to be adjusted, while taking into account that Britain is a signatory to various treaties governing the matter.
