Is Hell better than oblivion?
Is Hell better than oblivion?
Presumably hell is unbearable torment. And if the torment is unbearable, then wouldn't not feeling anything at all be a better state of affairs?
Thoughts?

Well you are living in 'hell', sometimes, and it is very easy for you to imagine 'oblivion', so which one is 'better', to you, exactly?
Have you lived, at times, in or with 'unbearable torment'?
If yes, then 'that' is, exactly, what the 'hell' word is referring to, exactly.
There could be as many 'No's' as there are 'Yes's'. Obviously any answer would be just Truly subjective.Gary Childress wrote: ↑Tue Nov 26, 2024 9:23 am And if the torment is unbearable, then wouldn't not feeling anything at all be a better state of affairs?
Re: Is Hell better than oblivion?
Eschatology has Hell as a place for unbelievers who will ultimately be destroyed. In logic, a large, comprehensive view of the subject. The New Testament affixes different ideas for them with the true meaning of the sacred writer.

I'm sorry, but are you asking me if I'd prefer no suffering to suffering for eternity?
I kinda thought this one was a no-brainer, Gary.

If hell was unbearable; then all those experiencing hell would be killed off by it.Gary Childress wrote: ↑Tue Nov 26, 2024 9:23 am Is Hell better than oblivion?

Therefore hell would lead to oblivion anyway.
Oblivion is our only home.
Re: Is Hell better than oblivion?
And, 'hell' is the place created by the "unbelievers". But, what you people here appear to have NOT YET considered nor to have YET understood what the 'unbeliever' word is in relation to, exactly.
If, and when, 'this' becomes KNOWN, then things start to make more sense, here.
Re: Is Hell better than oblivion?
Yet here you are, still, living in the ONLY place where actual 'hell' could, and does, exist.promethean75 wrote: ↑Tue Nov 26, 2024 5:05 pm I'm sorry, but are you asking me if I'd prefer no suffering to suffering for eternity?

Are ALL children 'killed off' by the 'unbearable' circumstances that they HAVE TO ENDURE, from adult human beings. Just think of being a child living in "gaza" or "ukraine", in the moment of these writings, or for people like "yourself" "fairy" you only have to remember your own childhood.Fairy wrote: ↑Wed Nov 27, 2024 2:28 pmIf hell was unbearable; then all those experiencing hell would be killed off by it.Gary Childress wrote: ↑Tue Nov 26, 2024 9:23 am Is Hell better than oblivion?

Although there are MANY upon MANY children experiencing 'hell', with 'their lives' being 'unbearable', living in those 'hell-like' places, they are, still, NOT ALL 'killed off', by it.
Okay.
Wanting to TELL children that your ONLY home is OBLIVION is:
1. A result of living and 'growing up' in an 'unbearable hell' like existence.
2. A self-justification for continuing on with causing and creating a hell like existence. Which is, obviously, a False and Wrong "justification".

Who said I was an unbeliever? I know what the word means in many languages.Age

Hell is never unbearable; if it was we’d all be dead.Age wrote: ↑Wed Nov 27, 2024 10:42 pmAre ALL children 'killed off' by the 'unbearable' circumstances that they HAVE TO ENDURE, from adult human beings. Since it’s obvious that we’re not all dead, proves hell is never unbearable.
To be able to inform yourself that hell is a hellish experience; you need to be alive and conscious of bearing the hellish experience. Else, you’d be killed off by its unbearability.
Every one dies eventually; no matter how young or old they are. Oblivion is our only true home. There’s no certainty or place to cling to in life.

Ecclesiastes 4:2
And I declared that the dead, who had already died, are happier than the living, who are still alive.

My favourite place.

But, some do not just 'kill themselves" just because some parts of life, and living, are what they call 'unbearable'.Fairy wrote: ↑Thu Nov 28, 2024 8:35 amHell is never unbearable; if it was we’d all be dead.Age wrote: ↑Wed Nov 27, 2024 10:42 pmAre ALL children 'killed off' by the 'unbearable' circumstances that they HAVE TO ENDURE, from adult human beings. Wow you jumped to that conclusion, fairly quick.
1. A lot of you human beings, in the days when this is being written, say and/or believe that 'hell' is where some go to AFTER they have individually 'died'.
2. Do you have proof that 'hell' is where you all go to when you are 'born', on earth?
3. What makes you believe, absolutely, if some thing is 'unbearable', then EVERY one of you living human beings would just go and "kill yourselves"?
I can follow that if some thing was Truly 'unbearable', then some of you might just "kill yourselves". But, there is also the OPTION of just 'moving away' from what is 'unbearable', WITHOUT "killing one's" 'self'.
This can be countered, argued against, and refuted. But, 'we' are, still, quite some way off from this, right?
To who and/or what, exactly?
That 'you' are CERTAINLY, HERE, in THIS PLACE, NOW, 'I' find to be 'one certainty'. Which 'you can 'cling to', in Life, if that is what one so desired to do.
Re: Is Hell better than oblivion?
Age..you are missing the point.
Hell is not unbearable torture. If it was unbearable; the torture would kill you as you wouldn’t be able to bear it.
Therefore since there’s billions of people still alive right now, proves that hell is bearable torture and never unbearable torture.
