Nine Ladies at Yule

I've received confirmation that some Pagan friends of mine will be driving up to the Nine Ladies stone circle, Derbyshire, for the Yule festival at the winter solstice, where they'll be camping for the weekend. Needless to say, I jumped at the chance of tagging along, especially as I've never been to that one before. This will be the first Pagan event I've attended in ages, and I'm pretty excited about it.

That's very interesting. It's incredible that these sites have survived for thousands of years withous being dug up and built on, or wrecked in some other way. The bronze age people of Britain were surprisingly sophisticated and stylish.

They were indeed, very much so. I've tried to visit as many Neolithic and Bronze Age sites as I can, over the years.

Hey, what if you wore one of those tiny hearing aids in one ear? Not because you needed it but just to further enhance your super-human hearing and echolocation navigation system. You could use it when out and about or camping. They're very discreet, and you can hardly see them when they're in.

I bet if you tried one, you'd be like, "Holy cow, i can learn to like this effect."

That's actually quite a good idea. I would need to have one in both ears, though, for the full 3D effect.

Not with the current state of technology. I don't have any eyes, and while fully functioning prostheses, and transplants, are theoretically possible, they are way beyond us in practice. Not that it worries me, and the idea of having a transplant, in particular, is really icky.

Thanks. There's usually some sort of ritual, often of a Wiccan type, followed by a feast. There may be musicians there, too, and there will no doubt be some singing, and quite a lot of drumming. I've no idea how many people will be there, though apparently it's quite an established event, so I'm guessing a few dozen, perhaps. Maybe more.
