Snow!

Post by Maia »

Sorry, just the inner child in me. I went outside earlier and the back garden was covered in snow, about 2cm deep.

It'll be all slushy on the way to the shops, no doubt, but at least I can enjoy it for the moment.

Lovely!

I have never experienced a white Christmas in UK (not likely now I am in Oz) -- i hope it happens 4 U

I have had snow on my birthday (March 16) and 40deg C very hot..

..I was in UK in 2018 for March and there was a "Siberian" blizzard - I got rather messed up walking from the Saints Pub in Millbrook to my Nans house at around 1am..

Snow is brilliant. Slush is muddy and horrible!

It seems to be quite rare on Christmas Day itself, for some reason, though I definitely remember it snowing on my birthday (2nd March) more than once.

I've checked again and it's still snowing, so maybe the slush won't be so bad for a while.

The snow is now crunchy underfoot, with patches of ice on the pavement. It's not snowing or raining, though. The temperature is minus two (Celsius), a little below my preferred ambient temperature of around zero, for walking.

Sounds lovely Maia. I've just 'opened the hatches' (windows and front door) to let some cooler air through overnight. 34C today.

You may have noticed I do this thang with words - where things are not mere coincidences but guided by an intelligence (GOD)..

Whether to wear shorts today? Check the weather. Whether to have a picnic, check the weather!

Whether to make the most of the snow - do it S_NOW!

(I honestly wonder how my mucking about with words must sound to you with the software u use)

It's a bit sad I can't show you my art, but many around here would likely insist that's a good thing..!

Hi Maia. When I was younger and a bit into extremes I went out for a run in a blizzard at night to test myself against the elements, as folks sometimes do. It was a blizzard that eventually dumped about three feet of snow by morning. This was in the winter days before the authorities pre-treated the roads with chemicals, which was why an unplowed foot of snow blanketed the roads when I went out.

I had to trot in the auto tracks. This required a major shift in trotting form. It required merging with the elements present in that situation: the cold, the reliance on a cocoon of warmth generated by constant jogging and exertion, the unsure footing. The major external element was slip and slide. One must push off gently from the tire-packed snow in order to not slip, for there was a light coating of ice underneath. Then, landing came with the expectation of sliding balance into forward motion, into the next push off. Elbows had to be in tight to torso, and knees pointing forward. It was mostly a matter of getting going and then guiding the momentum.

If you’re interested in where this is going do speak up, because about two miles from home that night in the blizzard, at a prominent view of the city lights twinkling below through the snow flakes, something odd happened. Something external.

Something not of my choosing.

Coool. U should type up your account of it..woteva it is.

I've explained the two times I've seen UFOs on this forum, first time 1997 around the time GOD started 'warping' REAL_IT_Y...

Basically, as far as I am concerned since what I have witnessed of the power of GOD (throughout all matter) I just b_lame GOD for projecting "UFOs" to me..

A friend of mine is right into all the UFO stuff and the US enquiries\classified stuff etc.. I watched some of it the other day on utube and honestly all I resort to is GOD is projecting this - these 'crafts' etc etc..

Anyway, since it's International Bonkers Day...

Oh, nothing as grand as that. I said warm as in less than cool, not hot. If Maia should be interested you'll find out.

34C sounds literally unbearable, to be honest. It was something like that when I was in Eilat, Israel, in 2009, and I couldn't stand it for very long. Luckily we were by the sea, so I spent as much time in it as a could, including at a place called Dolphin Reef, where you can swim with dolphins.

Yes, ok then, I'd be interested to hear it.

With regards to extremes of temperature, I much prefer the winter for going on camping trips and the like. Not only are the places far less crowded with tourists, but I can walk for ages without getting too hot. I wouldn't want to get caught in a blizzard, though. I prefer it when the air is still, little or no wind, and dry.

I find > 40C unbearable though I admit I don't go outside much when it's 34C and above. My favourite time of year for weather in Oz is Spring and Autumn where one gets to enjoy many sunny days around 26C - perfect imo.

Winter in Adelaide isn't too bad either - some sunny days I still get to wear shorts.

I'd like to visit Israel, maybe spend sometime swimming with dolphins in between checking out where Je sus did stuff..

Let me guess. One of your schizophrenic hallucinations? Your lack of self awareness is astonishing. Have you never connected the schizophrenia to your 'conversations' with 'god'? You don't think they just might have something to do with each other?

We were in Jerusalem for the last part of the trip, staying at a hotel on the Mount of Olives, which was next door to the Church of the Ascension. From there you walked down a precipitously sloping street called Dominus Flevit. Jesus Wept, that was steep! Part of the way down was the entrance to the Garden of Gethsemane. At the bottom of the slope was a multi-lane motorway, on the other side of which was the entrance to the Old City of Jerusalem. Since it was a school trip, they had hired various local guides, who told us about the Stations of the Cross, the Temple Mount, which we walked under but didn't go onto because there was huge queue, apparently, and all sorts of other things, but there wasn't time to visit them all. It was also pretty hot there, though not as bad as Eilat, even though it was January. Another thing that sticks in my mind was how each morning, very early, church bells rang out, then a Muslim call to prayer, then church bells again, and so on, taking it in turns, but not clashing with each other. They must have had some sort of agreement.
