What are you favourite accents?

In UK I do love Irish (not so much the Belfast accent tho), Scottish accents

Within England I love the scouser accent (Liverpool), probably my favourite...after my own of course.

In the USA I love the accent of the 'southern drawl' like wherever Dolly Parton comes from..also I love the New Jersey accent, mafia types. I spent some time in NJ in 1999 and had dinner with a huge Italian descent NJ family, I swear these guys were part of the mob.

I do like the Australian accent a lot, but there is not much difference in it based on locality that I've noticed on my travels of Oz (although ozzies insist there are, bollocks!)

NZ accent is hilarious, they say sex instead of six -- really good fun when the cricket is on.

South African accent I don't mind too much, reminds me of a hybrid Ozzy/NZ accent.

Overall foreign sexy sounding language has to be Français...it is my destiny to learn that beautiful language.

Why are Americans so obsessed with English accents? Every English accent an assault on the ears apart from the neutral 'middle class' one.
Welsh is the nicest accent.

I think my favourite accent in the UK is that of York and the East Riding, which is soft spoken and intelligent-sounding. A close runner up would be somewhere like Nottingham. I also like the West Country accent, which is totally different, of course, to the previous two. Although it's probably not very nice to say it, I literally can't stand the London accent, and it's one of the reasons I avoid going there. Moving beyond England, I like the North Welsh accent, and the Welsh language too, when spoken. I've never been to Scotland, and don't have much personal experience of its accents, although I definitely prefer the Edinburgh accent to the Glasgow one. I've never been to Ireland either, but have known quite a few Irish people, and I think I would have to single out the Cork accent for a special mention, especially as spoken by elderly people, mainly because it's so funny. I don't like the Belfast accent, though.

Going abroad, I think my favourite American accent is that of the Pacific Northwest. I don't like the New York accent, nor that of the South, very much, though that's quite a broad category. The Canadian accent, on the other hand, is another amusing one, though I don't know it well enough to know its regional differences. I can't really say much about Australia or New Zealand, as I've had very little personal exposure, but the roots of their accents in those of London and Southeast England are very clear. And then there's South Africa, which I don't like at all.

Australian is ok. Good for comedy anyway. New Zealand is an abomination. All the vowel sounds are the same and they sound like they permanently have a mouth full of food.

The roots may be correct but certainly what gave the Ozzy "twang" was the inflection from the Greeks and Italians.

I don't like the Brummie accent. You could put any woman of any beauty in front of me...if she starts talking with a brummie accent I'm out...middle stump stumped.

Yeah, but it was really early, and i was trying to keep my voice down so it doesn't sound like me... and i messed up the last words and reverted back to pseudo-british when i said, "Talk like this". I was contemplating a do-over but decided against it.

...lol. Maybe your intellect has an affect on the accent making it agreeable to my ears....my cockney twang would also need to be switched perhaps to my Hampshire country lad accent or perhaps I can put my Ozzy ocker accent on! In any case I very much doubt we will ever meet, but if we do I am certain I will warm to the sound of your voice and heck, maybe you could break my Brummie curse.
