Ah, right. I hadn't noticed.

Yeah, the joke was a gamble on my part. I was assuming two things: (a) those are indeed Wandering Jews, and (b) her brother or someone may have told her they were there... or she may have found them herself.

If both of these conditions were met, the joke would have worked.

But even without it working, you can still recognize the stupid pun intended... though it's not as funny as it would have been if my plan worked and conditions a and b were met.

And by the way, the foilage is lush and green, but those purple flowers are the only apparant flowering plants in the image... which means they are the last of their kind, Maia, and if they die, your backyard will lose the only colors it has (other than green) and fall into despair.

You have to save them. I'll give you coordinates so you can locate them. The clump is two feet in from the outer left corner of the patio tiles. They are growing up through the cracks in the tile. You must keep them alive!

I hadn't even heard of a plant called Wandering Jew, to be honest, but having just looked it up, it doesn't appear to grow in the UK very much, if at all.

But with your description of its location, whatever it is, I'm pretty sure I know which one you mean, now, and it's definitely still there.

Can you see the shed in that pic, at the other end of the garden? When I first moved in, I had fun exploring that. The floorboards were so rotten that my feet went straight through them to the ground underneath.

Don't step on any nails, and if you fell through the floor, mate, you may not want to walk back there until you get the wankers who rent that flat to fix the bloody floor in the shed. Right!

By the way, can you please select the Cockney british gangster accent on your text-to-voice converter when you read any of my posts? Thanks in advance.

I think Cockney would be a bit too grating, after a while, as I'm not that keen on the Laaaandan accent. I'll stick with British educated female.

Unfortunately this Hampshire hog tends to sound rather cockney at times (maybe I watched too much Eastenders as a nipper)

So Maia, any delicious sumptuous stories from the work party or is it one of those "when in Vegas" things?

It wasn't a very loud party, or anything like that. It was at the leisure centre where I work, with members of staff and clients at it, the latter being senior citizens. We had music, dancing, and a nice buffet. As I expected, no one had any clue as to what I was wearing, but it was just a bit of fun, really, and an opportunity to chat.

Sounds very nice, nobody drowned and everyone survived that's the main thing. What sort of tunes were kickin'?

Yes, it was felt that it would probably be best not to hold it in the swimming pool. The music was mainly geared to the clients, so a lot of old stuff from the 1950s and '60s, which is absolutely fine, of course.

My Dad gave me his beat up work van. It was built in 1996 and the motor/mechanics are all good but the body is rusted and battered. I knocked the bumper off for the second time on his birthday last week when I drove into the pine tree in his front garden (I hadn't been drinking, was just in a bit too much of a hurry) - put the bumper back on yesterday with some bolts!

Anyway, re 60s music, I was fishing through a few cassette tapes on my long journey yesterday and I put what I thought was one of my own mix tapes into the player. Well, it was one of Dads - the Kinks, Beatles etc.. boy, what a great drive that was - love the old school music.

I've ordered personalised plates - could only get 7 letters so it's "ANDROCI" --- I'm going to art the van up big time - hopefully the plates will arrive this week. :D

Yes, there's definitely a lot of good music from that time. I particularly like the Moody Blues, for example, who I kept asking for on Friday, which no one complained about, not least, I suppose, because they were a local band. Local, that is, to my afore-not-mentioned home city. Their classic seven albums straddled the late '60s and early '70s, which was also the era of the folk rock bands, including Pentangle, who I really like, and Steeleye Span, to name just two. Pentangle are really good because they often recorded real traditional folk songs, such as Willy O' Winsbury. Just listen, for example, to Jacqui McShee's voice, on this.

Check out this prog-rock band from Canterbury. Their music is a compositional nightmare, so you might not like it... but listen to Parsons right here. You want goose bumps and tingles?
