Introducing myself - and the Dynamic Edge Conjecture (DEC)

Post by tedpaulus »

Hi, I'm Ted Paulus, and I've been exploring the intersection of philosophy, technology, and complexity with a particular focus on the nature of reality and consciousness in the context of Simulation Theory and emergent systems. My work is centered around a concept I’ve developed called the Dynamic Edge Conjecture (DEC), which proposes that reality is composed of nested layers of complexity, from physical systems to biological life, culture, and advanced technology like AI. At the forefront of this progression is the Dynamic Edge, where humanity, as a transitional layer, plays a pivotal role in shaping the next stages of evolution, particularly through the creation of increasingly sophisticated simulations.

DEC also re-introduces the concept of Entelechy (originally coined by Aristole in his Metaphysics), a driving force that propels the unfolding of life and complexity across both base reality and simulated worlds, exploring how simulations might offer greater freedom and opportunities for creativity than the original, more constrained base-level reality. I’m passionate about the philosophical implications of this conjecture, especially how it challenges traditional views of life, evolution, and human significance in the broader cosmos.

I look forward to exploring this concept further and sharpening my ideas through authentic and critical but polite debate.
